About the Role:
U.S. Pipe is seeking a Welder to join our team in
Lynchburg VA.
The
Welder position
supports as part of the Maintenance department in a heavy industrial manufacturing operation. Welders perform fabrication and repair of machine equipment, process piping, flue gas handling systems, structural components using multiple processes GMAW/FCAW/SMAW and occasionally GTAW working with ferrous and nonferrous metals, including cast iron.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintenance repair of industrial manufacturing equipment inside/outside plant, as needed.
Fabrication of industrial equipment, in shop, as needed.
Working from fabrication drawings
Multi-process welding experience GMAW/FCAW/SMAW/GTAW, brazing, cutting torch, plasma, carbon arc, band saw. Carbon, Stainless, nickel alloy, cast iron/steel
Structural steel repair, fabrication, modification as needed
Process piping, Hydraulic piping, Fit and Weld, as needed
Qualifications:
Must have a High School Diploma or GED
At least 4 years’ experience as a certified welder in Industrial setting: Plant Maintenance, Mill, or Power Plant Shutdown/New Construction
Certified Welder: AWS D1.1 Structural 1” Plate 3G/4G [unlimited thickness] bend or Xray
Proficiency working from blueprints
Ability to perform out-of-position stick welding
Have Shop work and Field work
Preferred Qualifications:
Certified Welder: AWS D10, Carbon Pipe 6G 2” XH SMAW 6010/7018 or Tig root/7018 F/C, bend or Xray
Experience fitting and welding process piping/hydraulic piping/pressure piping
Experience as a structural Ironworker/Welder
Experience as a Boilermaker/Tubewelder or pressure piping
Experience as a Ship Fitter/Welder
Rigging experience.
Industrial Shutdown experience: Steam generation, Papermill, Steel Mill/Foundry, Quarry, etc.
