Job Description
This role focuses on fabricating and welding metal components using MIG and flux core processes while following precise measurements and quality standards. You will cut, weld, and graft metal, complete inspection reports, take photos of work, and troubleshoot issues on site. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to use an iPad for documentation, and a practical, solution-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities
Perform MIG and flux core welding on a variety of metal components according to project specifications and drawings.
Cut, weld, and graft metal parts accurately while following measurements and ensuring proper fit and finish.
Carry out fabrication tasks, including preparing materials, setting up equipment, and assembling components.
Maintain clean and tidy work areas, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are organized and safely stored.
Complete inspection reports and other required documentation accurately and on time.
Take clear photos of completed work and in-progress tasks for documentation and quality control purposes.
Safely operate various power tools and equipment, such as MIG welders, saws, presses, and punching equipment.
Use an iPad or similar device to navigate job instructions, record information, and submit reports.
Follow all safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to site safety rules.
Identify and troubleshoot issues with welds, materials, or equipment, and propose practical solutions.
Collaborate with other trades and team members to complete tasks efficiently and meet project timelines.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 1 years of welding experience.
Experience with MIG welding and flux core welding.
Background in fabrication, including cutting and assembling metal components.
At least 1 year of construction or carpentry experience.
Ability to safely operate power tools such as MIG welders, saws, presses, and punching equipment.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise measurements.
Capability to complete inspection reports and basic documentation.
Ability to navigate and use an iPad or similar tablet for work-related tasks.
Ownership of basic welding tools, including welding helmet, apron, clear safety glasses, gloves, 6" steel-toe footwear, hard hat, hard hat lanyard, and high-visibility clothing.
Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues on site.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Auto body experience is an asset.
Previous experience working on long-term projects in a single location is beneficial.
Comfort working both independently and as part of a team in a construction or fabrication setting.
