Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Warehouse Worker Job Description This role involves working as a warehouse associate across receiving, shipping, and order picking functions in a busy distribution environment. You will begin in the receiving department to learn core processes, then gradually move into shipping and order picking as you gain experience. The work includes both light and heavier lifting as you transition between departments. Responsibilities Work in the receiving department to unload, check, and process incoming products according to established procedures. Use RF scanners to accurately scan, track, and update inventory in the warehouse management system. Organize products in the correct colored zones and use colored cones to ensure orders are prepared for the appropriate carrier. Support shipping operations by preparing, labeling, and staging outbound orders for transport. Perform order picking by locating, selecting, and preparing items based on pick lists or RF scanner instructions. Handle both light and heavy lifting tasks, including moving items weighing up to 50 pounds as needed. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all safety guidelines and wearing required PPE. Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members to understand training, process changes, and daily priorities. Follow standard operating procedures to maintain accuracy, reduce errors, and meet productivity targets. Assist with basic stocking and replenishment of inventory in designated locations. Adapt to working in different warehouse departments as needed to support overall operations. Essential Skills Previous experience in a warehouse environment, including exposure to shipping, receiving, or order picking. Proficiency using RF scanners for inventory control and order processing. Demonstrated ability to perform heavy lifting, handling items up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly. Strong communication skills to understand instructions, training, and process changes. Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain high accuracy in picking, shipping, and receiving tasks. Capability to work on your feet for the full shift in a fast-paced warehouse setting. Reliability and punctuality to support consistent day-shift operations from Monday to Friday. Additional Skills & Qualifications 1+ years of experience in warehouse work is an asset. Experience with order picking and stocking is an advantage. Previous shipping and receiving experience is preferred. Interest in learning to operate forklifts in the future, subject to assessment and training after permanent hire. Comfort with using handheld RF scanners and basic warehouse technology. Work Environment The role is based in a warehouse facility in Rocky View County, Alberta, near Cross Iron Mall. The location is not accessible by public transit, so reliable transportation is required. The team consists of approximately 50 staff members working together in a distribution environment. Work is performed on day shift only, with available schedules from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment involves physical activity, including standing, walking, and lifting throughout the day. Steel-toe boots are required as part of the personal protective equipment, and additional PPE may be provided as needed to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
