Position Purpose summary
The warehouse supervisor ensures the efficient and effective reclamation, processing, sorting, pricing, and distribution of donated goods under the direction of the Thrift Store Manager. The incumbent will provide team leadership to warehouse Mission Partners and will be responsible for the daily administration and operation of the warehouse.
This position is for Warehouse Supervisor at the Westbank Salvation Army Thrift Store.
RESPONSIBILITIES and Accountabilities
NOTE: Not all incumbents perform all the duties described above but perform a similar range of duties.
Monitors, participates and/or supervises production and/or distribution operations of the thrift store warehouse.
Meet and exceed key performance metrics of the organization (i.e., production, price per unit etc.)
Participates in strategizing for better collection, warehousing, processing, and distribution of goods between Salvation Army stores.
Assists in the onboarding and training of new mission partners in warehouse duties and tasks.
Assists in the hiring, discipline, and termination of employees and/or volunteers; acts as a team lead and supervises performance, Health & Safety, and employee/labour relations.
Identifies and resolves issues, conflicts and challenges with key staff persons and supervisors.
Assists in the annual PEACs (Performance Excellence and Coaching) for the team.
Ensures the satisfaction of donors and mission partners.
Ensures overall compliance with all policies and procedures including safety procedures by implementing and monitoring Health & Safety policies and best practices.
Establishes staff schedules and, under the direction of the Thrift Store Manager, addresses vacancies as they arise (i.e., no shows, medical or vacation absences, etc. to ensure adequate staffing levels.
Works cooperatively with the Retail team to ensure the store has what it needs to operate at maximum success levels (i.e. Sales)
May assist with uploading time sheets into payroll software.
May manage the loss prevention program in compliance with the budget; prepares financial and other requested reports as required.
Ensures sound and gracious donor relation practices are consistently exercised and that policies and procedures regarding donation refusals/turn-aways, etc. are implemented effectively to ensure items received support revenue generation.
Oversee and coordinate weekly recycle and garbage collection.
Maintains a clean and organized warehouse as well as all operational workspaces (i.e. pricing machines and c can units)
May collect and processes goods for emergency and/or disaster services (i.e., clothing, household goods per supervisor or caseworker request)
In coordination with Store Manager and Property Coordinator be responsible for cleaning, maintenance, repairs in/outside and grounds maintenance of entire building.
Informs Thrift Store Manager of any purchases or repairs that may be required, and forecasts expenses needed for yearly budgetary considerations.
Participates regularly in Thrift Store Leadership Team meetings.
May be called upon to participate in, contribute to and lead segments of Thrift Store staff meetings.
Responsible for creating and maintaining a positive culture in the warehouse and actively build a culture of respect and teamwork.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.
MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Is the team leader of between 5 – 10 non-supervisory staff and volunteers
Gives direction and checks results
Provides input on employment related decisions within established guidelines
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT
Minor material responsibilities (proper safekeeping of donations)
Responsible for use of own resources.
Slight input regarding departmental budget.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The incumbent will work in assigned Thrift Store location (both retail store and warehouse/sorting areas).

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
Completion of College Diploma
Licensed Forklift Operator
Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
A minimum of 2 years of warehouse experience required.

The ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate).
Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $20.09 to $25.11 with a maximum of $30.13.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
