As a Vice President in the Private Company M&A group, you will play a significant role in the execution of strategic M&A transactions for clients across diversified sectors. You will collaborate closely with National Bank’s sector coverage investment banking, lending, and other internal coverage teams to provide strategic advice and turnkey solutions to our clients.
This position provides the opportunity to showcase your comprehensive M&A expertise and highlight a deep understanding of diversified industries. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience as a trusted advisor to industry participants.
This role is based in Calgary or Vancouver.
Your Job
The individual will have a number of responsibilities which include the following:
Marketing, executing and structuring of private M&A and other strategic advisory transactions
Supporting Managing Directors and Directors in the Investment Banking coverage of private companies
Managing the execution of origination efforts and end-to-end M&A processes, including:
Managing and drafting presentations and other materials for clients
Overseeing and executing the building of, and maintaining complex financial/valuation models
Coordinating company and industry research
Managing the execution of all analyses and process requirements, as needed
Managing the execution of several projects at once and working effectively as an individual and as part of a team
Providing mentorship, oversight and guidance to Associates and Analysts
Participating in the recruitment, development and training of junior team members

This group currently consists of approximately 400 professionals located in offices in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, and New York. The Investment Banking group at NBCM has demonstrated considerable momentum over the last few years, experiencing record profits and strong growth in deal flow.
The Western Canada based M&A team is looking for a Vice President to play an important role in supporting the group as part of its strategic initiatives. Basic Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of investment banking or M&A experience, of which at least 3 years must be as an Associate/Vice President
Relevant experience and prior client relationships in the Diversified Industries sectors
Strong technical skills in financial modeling and analytical problem-solving
Effective communicator with internal and external stakeholders
Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting or a field related to the sector of activity
MBA, CPA, CBV, and CFA considered assets
