What you’ll do…
Role summary:
As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable software solutions by managing feature implementation, testing, and ongoing support within collaborative teams. You will apply advanced programming skills and technical judgment to design, develop, and maintain high-quality systems aligned with business objectives. About the team:
The team delivers secure, scalable software solutions by collaborating across business, product, and engineering functions. Focused on high-quality feature delivery aligned with Sam’s Club standards, the team leads efforts to detect and prevent fraudulent activities through advanced analysis and rule optimization. Members engage in development, testing, and mentoring to ensure robust site security and seamless user experiences. Emphasizing continuous improvement, the team fosters technical excellence, innovation, and cross‑functional collaboration to address evolving business needs and maintain reliable, high‑performance software systems.
Own delivery of scoped features and components through collaborative engineering teams, ensuring alignment with platform and system objectives.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
Integrate AI/ML components and leverage generative AI tools to enhance software capabilities and development efficiency.
Participate in solution design, conduct code reviews, and apply best practices for scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
Monitor application performance, support defect resolution, and ensure high-quality software delivery.
Mentor peers, promote continuous improvement, and contribute to engineering excellence and innovation.
What you’ll bring:
Extensive experience in software development with proficiency in Java, Spring Framework, and back‑end engineering.
Strong knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and containerization using Docker.
Expertise in solution design, data architecture, and integration testing to build scalable and maintainable systems.
Proven ability to write clean, efficient, and reliable code following object‑oriented principles and documentation standards.
Skilled in debugging, monitoring, and maintaining high‑quality software aligned with business objectives.
Experience collaborating across teams to translate complex requirements into technical solutions.
Commitment to continuous learning, mentorship, and driving engineering excellence.

Annual salary range: $117,000.00 – $234,000.00. Additional compensation may include Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) based on location.
Minimum Qualifications…
Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications…
Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.
