Job Title: Treasury Manager
Job Description
The Treasury Manager plays a critical, hands-on role overseeing the organization’s treasury, financing, and risk management activities. This position manages day-to-day cash and treasury operations, supports complex financing arrangements and banking relationships, and owns a significant corporate insurance program. The role suits an adaptable, detail-oriented professional who is comfortable working across treasury execution, external stakeholder management, and reporting-intensive environments while taking high ownership and visibility within the organization.
Responsibilities
Manage daily cash positions and liquidity to ensure the organization meets its operational and strategic funding needs.
Execute cash movements between accounts and legal entities to support ongoing operations and project requirements.
Oversee foreign currency cash flows, primarily involving USD/CAD with some EUR exposure, ensuring efficient and controlled FX management.
Execute and manage foreign exchange contracts, including purchasing FX contracts up to 12 months forward, to support multi-currency cash flows.
Support and manage derivative contracts related to foreign exchange and cash management, ensuring appropriate documentation and oversight.
Ensure accurate and timely treasury reporting while balancing routine treasury transactions with financing-related deliverables.
Support bank financing activities related to operational and customer contract requirements, including preparation of required documentation.
Manage and maintain existing banking relationships and financial arrangements, acting as a key point of contact for banks and financial institutions.
Prepare and submit long-term cash flow and financing forecasts to banks, ensuring alignment with facility requirements and covenants.
Support annual renewal processes for bank facilities and programs backed by external agencies such as Export Development Canada.
Manage Letters of Credit and letters of guarantee issued in support of customer contracts and program requirements, ensuring compliance with terms and timelines.
Own and manage the company’s insurance and risk management program, including the full corporate insurance portfolio.
Lead insurance renewals and coordinate annual insurance market processes, including gathering data, preparing submissions, and managing timelines.
Prepare and deliver presentations to insurance markets, including international insurers, clearly articulating business performance and future prospects.
Represent the company to insurers by presenting the asset base (such as aviation or other specialized assets), explaining risk assessments, and outlining safety programs.
Provide comprehensive underwriting information to support competitive insurance premiums and optimal coverage structures.
Support international travel as required for insurer meetings, renewals, and other insurance market engagements.
Manage treasury and financing requirements for program-specific facilities with unique or restricted reporting obligations.
Oversee quarterly forecast submissions and reporting of actual spend versus forecast for program-specific or agency-backed facilities.
Coordinate drawdowns, monitoring, and compliance for facilities with strict administrative and reporting requirements, including government or agency-backed programs.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting to external agencies and stakeholders, maintaining strong controls and documentation.
Work closely with internal stakeholders, including finance and operations, to align treasury, financing, and insurance activities with broader business objectives.
Provide guidance and oversight to treasury analysts and other direct reports, supporting their development and ensuring high-quality output.
Maintain organized, detailed records and processes to support audit, compliance, and internal reporting requirements.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience with core corporate treasury operations, including daily cash management and liquidity oversight.
Proven ability to move funds between multiple accounts and entities while maintaining strong controls and documentation.
Experience managing foreign currency exposure, primarily involving USD/CAD, with additional exposure to EUR flows.
Experience executing foreign exchange contracts, including purchasing FX contracts up to 12 months forward to support multi-currency cash flows.
Comfort managing derivative contracts related to foreign exchange and cash management within a corporate environment.
Demonstrated ability to balance routine treasury transactions and reporting with concurrent financing-related deliverables.
Strong exposure to bank financing activities, including managing existing financial arrangements and facilities.
Experience preparing and submitting long-term financial and cash flow forecasts to banks and other financing partners.
Experience supporting annual renewals of bank facilities and related financing programs.
Hands-on experience with Letters of Credit and letters of guarantee, including their issuance and ongoing administration.
Direct responsibility for managing a corporate insurance program, including full ownership of the insurance portfolio and policy renewals.
Experience coordinating annual insurance market processes and presenting directly to insurance markets, including international insurers.
Background organizing and managing insurance programs for an asset-heavy business, such as Oil & Gas or similar industries, with significant liability coverage requirements and complex risk profiles.
Ability to present business outlook and financial prospects clearly to banks, insurers, and other external stakeholders.
Ability to explain an asset base (for example, a fleet of aircraft or other specialized assets) and articulate associated risk assessments and safety programs.
Experience providing detailed underwriting information to support premium optimization and appropriate coverage.
Willingness and ability to travel internationally for insurer meetings and related activities.
Experience managing treasury reporting for program-specific or restricted facilities with unique reporting requirements.
Experience overseeing quarterly forecast submissions and reporting on actual spend versus forecast for specialized programs.
Ability to manage administrative complexity tied to government or agency-backed facilities, including coordinating drawdowns and monitoring spend after funds are released.
Highly adaptable approach, comfortable operating across treasury, insurance, and financing responsibilities simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with banks, insurers, and other external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently in a role with significant ownership, responsibility, and organizational visibility.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly in reporting-heavy environments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Professional accounting designation such as CPA (preferred).
Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation (preferred).
Experience in manufacturing or aerospace environments, particularly those with asset-heavy operations.
Experience working in Oil & Gas or similarly complex, asset-intensive industries with significant liability and risk management requirements.
Demonstrated ability to lead or mentor a small team, including treasury analysts.
Comfort working with external agencies and export development or similar programs.
Interest in and capability for continuous improvement of treasury, financing, and insurance processes.
Work Environment
This role is based on-site in Calgary and follows a standard Monday to Friday schedule, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Treasury Manager works closely with a small treasury team, including 1–2 direct reports and 2 treasury analysts, in a collaborative and professional office environment. The position involves regular interaction with banks, insurers, and external agencies, as well as periodic international travel to meet with insurance markets and other stakeholders. The work environment emphasizes accountability, precision in reporting, and cross-functional collaboration across treasury, finance, and operational teams.
