The Penticton & District Hospice Society began in June 1981 established as a non-profit, registered charitable organization. Our vision is to provide exceptional compassionate care and support to people in our community who are nearing the end of life, ensuring needs are met through accessibility, education and public awareness. While there are a variety of different operating models for hospice and palliative care across B.C. in Penticton the operation of the Palliative Care Program is managed by Interior Health which isresponsible for day-to-day operations and clinical care, including all aspects of managing the facility and 24/7 end of life care. The Penticton & District Hospice Society complements that work through fundraising to support ongoing Hospice House needs and by providing programming and resources for the volunteer program, house amenities for the comfort of residents and their families, as well as contributing to specifically identified improvements to the physical structure and grounds of Hospice House. Our Treasurer leads the Society's volunteer Finance Committee and provides oversight of our expenditures and financial assets. The Board of Directors meets monthly over 9 months of the year and a Treasurers report encompasses updates on expenditures, investment statements, asset allocations and donations against an annual budget. Annually the Treasurer provides a summary report at an Annual Gneral Meeting, prepares the Society's annual insurance application and oversees regulatory filings for CRA and WCB. Our simplified internal control structure requires no accounting or preparation of regulatory returns by the Treasurer. A collaborative Board, the Society provides an essential role in the cental Okanagan and has a strong community presence. #J-18808-Ljbffr
