Responsibilities
- Deliver prescribed radiotherapy using the appropriate equipment according to physician prescriptions and established standards.
- Obtain patient history, answer questions, explain procedures, and observe for unusual reactions or events during treatment.
- Verify prescription, diagnosis, chart, and patient identification; ensure accurate treatment delivery and documentation.
- Prepare treatment room and equipment; assist with patient positioning and immobilization; monitor for life-support needs as applicable.
- Conduct verification and port film exposures; adjust therapy as directed by the physician.
- Maintain accurate electronic and written documentation, including evaluation results, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Collaborate with physicists, nurses, social workers, and other team members; uphold safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards.
- Reinforce post-treatment instructions and coordinate with the broader care team for follow-up and supportive care needs.
Requirements
- Education: Associate degree in radiography with certification in radiation therapy; Bachelor’s degree preferred; graduate of a JRCERT-approved program; ARRT registration
- Licensure/Certification: State of Ohio licensed radiation therapist; ARRT certification; CPR certification; Ohio Department of Health license preferred upon submission
- Experience: 1–2 years of radiation therapy experience preferred
- Skills/Capabilities: Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; ability to problem-solve, manage multiple priorities, and make independent decisions
- Work setting: Ability to work effectively in a hospital-based radiation therapy department; TrueBeam/ARIA experience preferred
