Translator
Support a large-scale HR and Workday program within the mining sector by delivering high-quality English-to-French translations across training materials, digital content, videos, and business documentation. This hybrid opportunity offers diverse projects, collaboration with international stakeholders, and exposure to a dynamic global environment.
What is in it for you:
• Salaried: $32-36 per hour.
• Incorporated Business Rate: $36-41 per hour.
• 6-month contract with the potential for permanent employment.
• Day schedule, 37.50 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
• Provide translation services and support to the HR and Workday Program.
• Translate content from English into Canadian French and International French in compliance with Quebec’s Bill 96 requirements.
• Study source texts or recorded verbal content and accurately convey the original meaning.
• Consult dictionaries and reference sources to determine accurate meanings of terms.
• Ensure legal, technical, or scientific terminology is correctly rendered.
• Ensure translated content uses the appropriate register and style and reads as an original piece.
• Check and revise translations to improve quality.
• Translate a variety of formats including text documents, videos, job aids, and training materials.
• Ensure compliance with domain and client terminology and maintain terminological consistency.
• Ensure semantic accuracy, appropriate syntax, spelling, punctuation, and orthographic conventions.
• Ensure lexical cohesion and phraseology.
• Follow client and proprietary style guides, language registers, and language variants.
• Ensure appropriate locale, standards, formatting, target audience, and purpose are respected.
• Conduct research and consult subject matter experts when required.
• Proofread, review, or revise written translations in English and French when assigned.
• Support quality assessment requests for English-to-French translations.
• Provide consecutive interpretation services in English and French when necessary.
• Format high volumes of source and translated content using Microsoft Office applications and translation tools.
• Raise translation-related questions with designated stakeholders when clarification is required.
• Meet deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and complying with ethical, safety, and employment requirements.
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, French, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Translation degree or certification.
• 3 to 5 years of experience as a translator.
• 3 years of experience translating from English to French.
• Advanced knowledge of English and French grammar and stylistics.
• Extensive knowledge of specialties including law, business, finance, environment, engineering, and mining.
• Proficiency with translation-oriented applications, software, and machine translation tools.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Microsoft automation tools.
• Experience with technical platform localization.
• HR-related translation experience is preferred.
• Ability to manage and understand complex information.
• Ability to handle intense workloads and meet deadlines.
• Task-focused and self-motivated.
• Eagerness to acquire new knowledge and learn independently.
• Bilingual in English and French to translate, review, revise, and provide interpretation services in both languages.
