Position: Trades - Plumber - CONTINUINGCompetition: S-26-202Location/Dept: MaintenanceHours: 40.00 Monday-Friday - 12 MonthsStart Date: As soon as possibleTerm of Employment: ContinuingSalary: $39.95 Per Hour Posted: July 23, 2026 Application Deadline: 4:00 P.M., FRIDAY, AUGUST 28, 2026 SUMMARY Reports to the Manager – Maintenance, Manager – Mechanical, Manager – Continuous Improvement, Manager – Electrical, or Manager - Information Technology Services and works under the direction of the Foreman of the specific trade (i.e. Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Grounds, Information Technology Services, or Vehicle and Equipment Services). Performs maintenance, repair, alteration, and installation tasks, including renovations and modifications. May perform minor elements of other trades. DUTIES 1. Performs skilled work in a specific trade including: inspecting, installing, upgrading, repairing and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of structures, machinery, systems, peripherals and equipment. 2. Using the applicable hand and power tools of the trade, applies current trade standards and adheres to current governing codes, bylaws, policies and regulations. Ensures tools, equipment and work areas are clean and safe. 3. Responds to site inquiries related to operational concerns. Performs on-site repairs and troubleshoots problems. 4. Selects, orders and maintains an inventory of related supplies and equipment. Provides cost estimates for related supplies and equipment. Maintains records and manuals. 5. Prepares as-built information on completed projects and tasks. 6. Loads and unloads vehicles; transports materials using District vehicles and equipment as required. Cleans checks and confirms operational safety of vehicle. 7. Operates computer equipment as required. 8. Remains current with changing technology, practices and equipment. 9. Applies safe work practices at all times. Reports unsafe conditions. 10. Performs other related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Successful completion of a Secondary school graduation program or equivalent. Completion of post secondary B.C. Trades Qualification Certificate relevant to the specific trade - Plumbing. May be required to hold one of the following additional tickets relevant to the trade: Valid Class "A" or "B" gas ticket, certification in backflow prevention testing, or a related ticket/certificate. Minimum of 5 years recent experience working in the trade. Skill in the use of tools of the trade. Ability to read blueprints and specifications. Ability to safely operate and maintain a large variety of machinery. Valid B.C. Driver's Licence. Safe driving record. Physically capable of performing the duties of the position. Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Ability to use judgment when providing information. Ability to work independently and as a member of a crew. Current and thorough knowledge of related standards, practices, regulations, codes and methods. Knowledge of WCB and WHMIS regulations. Safe work habits.
