Job DescriptionJob Description The Toxicology Laboratory Technician supports the analytical testing of nicotine, cannabis, and other consumer products to identify and quantify toxicants and related compounds. This role performs sample preparation, operates advanced analytical instruments, and ensures data quality in compliance with Labstat’s ISO 17025 accreditation and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards. Essential Responsibilities: Prepare and analyze samples from tobacco, nicotine, cannabis, and related products to quantify toxicological compounds. Perform complex extractions, dilutions, and derivatizations following validated methods and SOPs. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical instruments, including LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, HPLC, ICP-MS, and related systems. Conduct quality control, calibration, and verification procedures to ensure data accuracy and instrument performance. Record, review, and validate data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring compliance with data integrity standards. Support method validation, process optimization, and implementation of new analytical techniques. Collaborate with team members to meet project timelines, client deadlines, and laboratory objectives. Participate in audits, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives to maintain ISO 17025 and GLP standards. Manage laboratory inventory, reagent stocks, and ensure proper documentation of consumables. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Toxicology, or a related scientific discipline required; advanced degree preferred. 1-3 years of hands-on laboratory experience, preferably in toxicology, analytical chemistry, or regulated testing environments. Experience with chromatographic and mass spectrometric techniques (GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, HPLC, ICP-MS). Familiarity with ISO 17025, GLP, GMP, or equivalent quality systems strongly preferred. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and technical skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain meticulous records and ensure data integrity. Experience with laboratory information systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory setting. Physical Demands & Work Envrionment: Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse and to handle other communications/computer components Potential exposure to odors, fumes, airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, and microbiological pathogens Noise level varies from quiet to loud Temperature varies from hot to cold Interactive and fast-paced team oriented tasks Overnight Travel is required at the discretion of management Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. 2nd shift: Monday-Friday 2:45pm-10:45pm
