The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 38,000, provides services to students in 50 schools (Kindergarten to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.
The WCDSB also operates numerous Adult Learning and Continuing Education programs through St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres.

General Description of the Program:
The Personal Support Worker program will prepare students to provide supportive care to clients of all ages in various settings to improve the client's quality of life.
You will report to the Program Managers of the PSW Program.
General Description of Duties:
Delivering in-class component of Personal Support Worker credit courses and/or Facilitating Co-op component of Personal Support Worker course, including clinical supervision off campus
Developing course materials and curriculum content in accordance with the Ministry of Education Curriculum documents and Ministry of Colleges and Universities PSW Training Standards
Identifying students' individual learning needs and using a variety of instructional strategies including the use of technology
Evaluating the progress of students and discussing results with students
To assess students in a range of ways throughout the course and submit final grades and reporting requirements
Creating reports of students' performance and challenges, with recommendations for improvement
Monitor and coach students to support success in their placement
Provide feedback from students to placements regarding their placement experience
Maintain accurate, up-to date student files, student attendance records, work education agreements, training plans, anecdotal data/monitoring reports
Working as part of a team to guide and further develop the PSW program
Participating in staff meetings
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse holding current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
A current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (If no candidates with an OCT apply, other RN or RPN candidates will be considered)
Minimum of two (2) years current, relevant work experience in a Canadian health care setting, including a clinical environment such as long-term care/community/chronic care setting.
Hold a valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle
Up to date vaccinations including fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to be able to work in LTC and community placements
Available for in-person work
You will be required to complete a Declaration of Vaccination and Schedule of Availability each school year
Desirable Assets:
Preference given to those with experience in Long Term Care (LTC) and/or Community Nursing
Experience with training, supervision of or direction of PSWs
Teaching experience is an asset
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge and experience using D2L as the student learning platform

Rate of Pay:
Teacher $56.80/hour for OCT certified
Existing Uncertified $50.36/hour (previously recognized by WCDSB under grandfathering provisions)
New Uncertified $46.83/hour plus stat and vacation
Occasional Teacher $49.07/hour
Start Date:
Teaching assignments for the school year will be posted to occasional teachers in August.
