About the role:
Reporting to the Drill and Blast Engineer, Mine Engineering, the Drill and Blast Technician is responsible for: designing blast patterns, generating loading instructions, and determining blast timing in a safe, environmentally responsible, and efficient manner. The position follows a 4x4 day shift schedule.
To be successful, we require someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who works well as an individual and as a team player. This person has strong analytical, logistical, and problem-solving skills, and can prioritize demands in a fast-paced environment.

In this role you will:
Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
Collaborate closely with mine operations, engineering, survey, and geology teams to efficiently design and blast patterns
Generate loading instructions, determine optimal blast timing to maximize coal recovery and waste rock fragmentation
Support on site nitrate management initiatives
Support and implement standard methodologies related to drilling and blasting
Requirements:
Basic digital literacy and experience with the Microsoft Office Suite®
Exposure to the DABS System is an asset
Exposure to mine design software, particularly MinePlan3D is an asset
Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
$85,000 - $105,000 a yearThe actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
