This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Technical UI/UX Designer in Canada. This role focuses on the hands-on adaptation and implementation of UI systems for a large, established simulation game being brought to new platforms and display environments. You will work at the intersection of design and engineering, directly modifying and rebuilding UI screens, flows, and interactions to ensure a seamless player experience across varying resolutions, input methods, and platform constraints. The position requires strong technical fluency and a practical mindset, with an emphasis on solving real-world usability challenges rather than purely conceptual design work. You will collaborate closely with designers, engineers, artists, and production teams to ensure UI systems remain performant, consistent, and intuitive. A key part of the role involves diagnosing platform-specific UX friction and translating it into actionable, implementable improvements. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working directly inside UI systems and shaping how complex interfaces behave in production environments. Accountabilities: Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to adapt and implement existing UI systems for new platforms, resolutions, and input methods while preserving core gameplay workflows. Design, adjust, and implement scalable UI layouts that function across multiple screen sizes, aspect ratios, and viewing distances. Work hands-on within UI toolsets to modify, extend, debug, and refine UI screens, navigation flows, and interactions based on platform requirements. Partner with engineers to ensure UI performance, responsiveness, stability, and technical feasibility across target platforms. Identify UX friction caused by platform transitions (e.g., controller input, navigation constraints, readability) and propose practical, implementable solutions. Maintain visual and interaction consistency with established UI systems while making necessary adjustments for usability and accessibility. Conduct in-game testing of UI systems, diagnosing issues, iterating on layouts, and improving clarity and overall player experience. Create and maintain clear documentation outlining UI changes, constraints, and best practices for cross-functional teams. Requirements: 3+ years of professional experience in UI/UX design for games, with a strong focus on implementation and technical problem-solving. Hands-on experience with Scaleform-based UI systems, including layout design, data binding, animation, and debugging workflows. Experience supporting platform transitions or ports for UI-heavy, complex games. Strong understanding of controller-first UX design, including focus management and non-mouse navigation systems. Experience designing UI for multiple resolutions and aspect ratios with attention to readability, hierarchy, and usability. Familiarity with cross-platform UI challenges, particularly adapting PC interfaces for console or constrained input systems. Ability to work independently within established systems, manage tasks effectively, and iterate based on feedback in a production environment. Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-disciplinary teams including engineering, design, art, and QA. Bonus: Interest in accessibility, usability, and player comfort for long play sessions and large-screen experiences. Bonus: Experience improving or refactoring legacy UI systems while maintaining consistency with established design language. Bonus: Background in UI animation or motion design that enhances clarity and user understanding. Benefits: Competitive salary range of $90,000 – $110,000 per year Remote-first work environment with flexible work arrangements within Canada Opportunity to work on large-scale, established game IPs and innovative new projects Collaborative, multidisciplinary studio culture with strong emphasis on craftsmanship Exposure to complex UI systems and platform adaptation challenges at scale Long-term career growth within a creative and future-focused game development environment Inclusive and supportive workplace focused on talent development and creative freedom.
