Technical Director – Civil Engineering Conveyance/Site Servicing (Water Business) Position located in the Ontario Engineering Design Organization within GHD's Water Business. This hybrid role requires onsite presence three days a week at one of GHD’s GTA offices (Waterloo, Toronto, Mississauga, Markham, or Whitby). Responsibilities Lead technical direction for civil engineering teams on major projects in linear water and water/wastewater treatment, collaborating with multidisciplinary design teams. Support the Water Business group’s business development efforts, working with market leads to grow the water practice within Canada. Supervise, train, mentor, and develop the civil engineering staff. Assume project roles such as Design Manager, Project Manager, Project Civil Discipline Lead, or Project Quality Manager. Act as a Design Discipline Lead, driving technical development and actively participating in the Community of Practice. Monitor and report on project performance, progress, and quality on behalf of GHD. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Professional Engineer registration in Ontario or another jurisdiction. Minimum twenty years of experience in professional engineering consulting, with demonstrable technical leadership and project management. Excellent interpersonal communication skills (oral and written) and ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization. Experience mentoring design teams and providing hands‑on technical guidance throughout project delivery. Skill in preparing and QA/QC’ing engineering design, calculations, briefs, and technical reports for masterplans, environmental assessments, and design projects. Active participation in technical conferences, providing senior guidance and review of key conference papers. GHD is an equal opportunity employer.
