Our Asset Management Tax practice continues to grow, creating an opportunity to join a specialized team serving Canadian and cross-border investment fund clients. As a Tax Manager, you will lead complex engagements across the investment fund tax life cycle, work directly with sophisticated clients, and leverage technology-enabled platforms to deliver high-quality compliance and reporting services. This role offers meaningful leadership responsibility, client exposure, and the opportunity to develop and mentor high-performing teams in a dynamic and regulated environment.
What you will do
Lead large and complex asset management and investment fund tax engagements
Review work prepared by junior professionals to ensure technical accuracy, quality, and completeness
Provide ongoing technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to support team development
Leverage proprietary, technology-enabled platforms to deliver operational and regulatory tax reporting, including Canadian fund distributions, annual compliance, and U.S. PFIC reporting
Build and maintain strong client relationships through direct interaction and trusted-advisor engagement
Manage engagement planning, resourcing, and delivery across mandates spanning the investment fund tax life cycle
What you bring to the role
Minimum four years of experience in public accounting tax, the fund industry, or a related field
Strong understanding of, or demonstrated interest in, taxation within the asset management industry
Experience implementing processes and procedures that drive efficiency and consistency
Proven leadership capability, including experience coaching and developing junior professionals
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders
Ability to manage competing priorities while anticipating risks and practical solutions
CPA designation required; enrollment in the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Program considered an asset
KPMG Ontario Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $95,000 to $143,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
