Job Description
Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Tax Manager oversees all tax activities of the company, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimizing tax positions and supporting the organization's strategic objectives.
What you’re responsible for
Prepare and review tax provisions and income tax returns ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely filing
Manage tax payments and coordinate with external preparers and auditors
Identify and mitigate tax compliance risks and potential disputes
Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize benefits and minimize liabilities
Provide tax guidance to internal teams on projects, transactions and strategic initiatives
Monitor and assess the financial impact of tax changes on the business
Lead and coordinate tax audits, prepare documentation and liaise with tax authorities
Identify and implement process and system improvements leveraging best practices and technology
Qualifications
To join our team
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or Master's in Taxation an asset; completion of In-Depth Tax Program an asset
5+ years of experience in corporate taxation
Demonstrated expertise in Canadian tax regulations and reporting requirements
Strong understanding of corporate tax compliance, planning and risk management; US tax experience an asset
Ability to handle complex tax inquiries, conduct thorough research and provide accurate, well-reasoned responses
Excellent communication skills including the ability to convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
Proven ability to collaborate across departments and lead cross-functional initiatives
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CaseWare and/or Taxprep an asset
Detail-oriented, organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
