District School Board Ontario North East is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Student Support Consultant. Reporting to the Special Education Lead, the successful candidate will provide direct observation and assessment of identified students within the educational setting using Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) principles. Working collaboratively with the school team, the successful candidate will develop individualized Behaviour Support Plans and Safety Plans and support school staff with the effective implementation and development of the Behaviour Support Plan and any classroom strategies through modelling, coaching, consultation, and feedback. Required Qualifications Degree in Psychology, Social Work or related field Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI); instructor designation is considered an asset. Demonstrated experience supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and other developmental disabilities. Skills & Experience Proven ability to work collaboratively with wide range of stakeholders including Superintendents, Principals, Teachers, Child and Youth Workers, Educational Assistants, student and their families, and community partners. Comprehensive knowledge of community and social service agencies, including their mandates programs and services Experience working with diverse populations is considered an asset Experience working within the educational sector is considered an asset Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills, with a strong commitment to cooperative planning, action and attention to detail. Valid driver's licence (The nature of the position will require the successful candidate to service a large geographical area).
