Job Title: Structural Welder
Job Description
This role focuses on structural welding, fitting, and installation for large commercial and industrial new construction projects in the Lower Mainland. You will perform CWB-certified welding, work safely at heights, and collaborate closely with site teams to ensure high-quality, on-schedule project delivery.
Responsibilities
Perform structural steel fitting, welding, and installation on large commercial and industrial construction projects.
Read and interpret structural steel drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols to ensure accurate and high-quality workmanship.
Complete CWB-certified welding on structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and secondary steel components.
Assist with erecting, aligning, and plumbing structural steel members during installation.
Perform field welding, connection welding, fit-up, and structural modifications as required by the project.
Participate in offloading, staging, and handling structural steel deliveries in a safe and organized manner.
Ensure all bolted connections are torqued to project specifications and quality standards.
Work safely at heights while following all fall protection procedures and site-specific safety requirements.
Collaborate closely with ironworkers, riggers, and crane operators to maintain productivity and meet project schedules.
Support a long-term project with an anticipated remaining duration of approximately one year, contributing to consistent and reliable progress.
Essential Skills
Minimum 3+ years of welding experience on structural steel.
Current CWB all-positions tickets for SMAW (shielded metal arc welding).
Proficiency in structural welding, including flux core welding, with a focus on structural applications.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, structural steel drawings, and weld symbols.
Valid in-person Fall Protection training and the ability to work comfortably at heights.
Experience using SRL lanyards and harnesses for safe work at elevation.
Current WHMIS certification.
Current CSTS 2020 certification.
Strong commitment to safe work practices and adherence to site-specific safety requirements.
Ability to work early morning shifts, extended days, and occasional overtime or weekend shifts as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Additional welding experience beyond the minimum requirements.
Experience with FCAW (flux core arc welding).
Access to a personal vehicle for commuting to designated meeting points or job sites.
Comfort working on high-profile projects with strict quality and safety standards.
Ability to collaborate effectively with ironworkers, riggers, and crane operators in a fast-paced construction environment.

Work Environment
This position is based on active construction sites in the Lower Mainland, focused on large commercial and industrial structural steel projects. Work typically starts at 6:00 a.m., with minimum 8-hour days and the potential for overtime and occasional weekend or afternoon shifts. You will work primarily outdoors and at heights, using fall protection equipment including SRL lanyards and harnesses, and following strict site-specific safety protocols. The employer supplies power tools and requires the use of tool lanyards on all tools to ensure safety when working at elevation. Designated parking is available, and transportation support is provided from an off-site meeting location to the job site when needed. The environment emphasizes safe work practices, organized staging and handling of materials, and close coordination with other trades and crane operations.
