Split Shipment Notice Assistant
Customer Service — Split Shipment Updates
Remote · Full-time · 59,280–62,400 per year
A customer expects one delivery, but an order has been divided into separate shipments. The Split Shipment Notice Assistant checks the online order record, sends the company's approved explanation, and records questions for the fulfillment team. This remote customer service role relies on office administration accuracy. You will not change shipping decisions, promise arrival dates, or assume that one tracking number covers the entire order.
The opening is remote, with full-time schedules possible. A private home office or equivalent space supports order information. The hiring company will confirm its hours and tools.
One order, more than one parcel
Read the line items and shipment records before composing a message. The customer may have received one package and believe something is missing, while another parcel is still in progress. Explain only the confirmed status for each relevant item. If a package is marked delivered but the customer says it was not received, refer that concern through the exception process rather than repeating the tracking status as a complete answer.
The work includes noting which shipment notice has already gone out. Duplicate or contradictory updates can create confusion. If an item is cancelled or delayed, it may need a different response from a routine split shipment. Ask the order owner when the record is unclear. A useful case note distinguishes what shipped, what remains pending, and who is responsible for the next update.
Practical duties
Review assigned online orders with more than one shipment.
Match items to the correct parcel and available tracking record.
Send approved status notices or answer routine questions.
Record what the customer has already received or reported.
Route missing-parcel and charge disputes to specialists.
Keep a separate status for each item or shipment.
Avoid promising a delivery date not confirmed by the source.
Prior order support is helpful, but not necessary. Customer service or office administration experience can transfer, and the employer will train a beginner on its fulfillment system, language, and escalation. You should be comfortable comparing item lists and explaining a situation without simplifying away important differences.
Statuses to keep separate
The order has been divided, but nothing has shipped.
One parcel has a tracking record and another is pending.
An item is delayed rather than shipped separately.
A customer reports receiving only part of the order.
A parcel is marked delivered but disputed.
All items show completed delivery under the source system.
The online order may change after an email has been drafted. Recheck the latest item-level status before sending. A customer's reply can also include a question about a charge; capture it for billing rather than treating it as a shipping inquiry. When a package has an estimated delivery window, present it with the qualification supplied by the carrier or employer. The objective is for the customer to understand each part of the order without being told that the entire order is finished too soon.
A customer's tracking link may show one parcel while the order system has two. Explain which item the link covers if the source supports it. If a label has been created but the carrier has not received the parcel, do not describe that item as delivered or in transit without confirmation. You may be asked to forward a question to fulfillment about packaging or a missing component. Include the item and shipment identifiers so the team can answer without requesting the entire order history again.
When an order ships in two parcels, the customer may receive one tracking link and assume an item is missing. Check each parcel against the order before replying. Identify which item is linked to which confirmed shipment and avoid giving an arrival date that the approved carrier record does not support. If a parcel is delayed or the packing record disagrees with the shipment status, send the discrepancy to fulfillment with the item and tracking reference. A good message explains the known parts of the order while keeping the unresolved part open for the right team.
Application information
Show how you handled a situation with several moving parts and kept the person informed. An example from a different field is fine. If you have explained a partial delivery to someone, say how you separated known and pending information.
You need not know a carrier's software in advance. The next step for candidates who advance may include an application on the employer’s website. The fulfillment team will explain its shipment stages and training.
