About the role:
We are looking for a full-time Social Media Manager. Reporting to our Director, Donor Marketing, the Social Media Manager plays a strategic role in planning, managing, implementing, and testing social content and engagement for CanadaHelps. As a key player on our Marketing team, you will help reposition the CanadaHelps brand and define our digital voice. You will drive meaningful engagement across a diverse audience, including everyday donors and leadership at the charities we serve. This is a new role.
This role requires a balance of strategy, storytelling, and implementation. You are a data-driven strategist, a sharp writer, and a relationship builder who understands the influencer/creator landscape. You know how to use social media for brand building, top-of-funnel marketing, and demonstrating team culture, ensuring our presence reflects our brand personality while turning campaigns into community conversations.
The annual salary range for this role is $75,000 - $80,000. Where an offer falls within this range is determined through the interview process. Candidates are benchmarked by the hiring team based on role scope, relevant experience, skill alignment, and expected impact, using consistent and objective criteria.
This position is remote but may require to be in-office in Toronto for team collaborations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Content creation and campaign management
Develop and manage a comprehensive content calendar, partnering with cross-functional teams to align with organizational priorities.
Create and post "scroll-stopping" shareable content across all channels, fostering authentic engagement and growing our supporter community.
Create compelling graphics and animations by leveraging AI, tools such as Canva, and templates, while coordinating with internal resources and/or freelancers to ensure all visual assets maintain strict brand standards.
Manage and evolve programs to activate internal staff as creators and thought leaders, translating internal expertise into human-first stories.
Develop and test experimental content formats; facilitate content capture at in-person events and lead quarterly content-batching sessions with internal players and freelance creators.
Storyboard, shoot, and edit social-first short-form video content, collaborating with freelance creators to scale production when necessary.
Coordinate social media content promotion in collaboration with paid media partners.
Social media strategy and influencer campaigns
Develop and own the social media strategy across platforms, ensuring alignment with brand positioning while driving engagement, growth, and business impact.
Serve as the internal authority on social-first best practices and emerging platforms, constantly innovating how CanadaHelps shows up and evolves across channels.
Identify, recruit, and manage relationships with relevant influencers.
Handle the full lifecycle of creator partnerships, including outreach, negotiation, contracts, and campaign management.
Community engagement
Engage proactively with the CanadaHelps audience, adding value to conversations and extending brand reach.
Maximize customer success by servicing inbound inquiries via email and social channels, guiding supporters through their giving journey.
Monitor the supporter inbox and gather user data to provide insights that improve the overall customer journey.
Reporting and insights
Track the performance of organic and experimental content using platform analytics; iterate quickly based on performance, trends, and audience behaviour.
Ensure all content remains credible, platform-native, and true to the evolving CanadaHelps brand personality.
Skills and Experience:
5+ years of experience in social media management across D2C, B2B, and PR, with a strong track record of developing platform-specific strategies.
Exceptional writing skills with a natural instinct for social storytelling and brand voice.
Proficient with social management tools (such as StatusBrew, Hootsuite, Sprout Social) and in-app ad management platforms for promoting posts.
Proven experience building or contributing to influencer and creator programs.
Experience leveraging AI technologies (such as Gemini, ChatGPT, or Jasper) to enhance workflows while maintaining a human-centred, authentic touch.
Proficient in creating social-first video and graphics, leveraging templates and freelancers while maintaining strict brand standards.
Skilled at translating raw metrics into actionable insights to identify successes and areas for growth.
Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail; able to work with high autonomy while remaining a collaborative team player.
Direct experience in social-first fundraising, with a portfolio of campaigns that successfully mobilized communities to give, is considered a strong asset.
