POSITION SUMMARY
The Sizing Operator is responsible for monitoring the drying and sizing of potash/salt and properly distributing the various products to the proper storage bins and bulk warehouses. The Sizing Operator will work in connection with other operators to ensure the production of consistently high-quality compacted potash at the most efficient levels possible. The Operator will maintain all equipment in their building and report any deficiencies or safety concerns.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operate screening and conveyor equipment
Operate all equipment related to compaction production
Monitor quality of product being produced
Monitor crushing operation
Distribute potash/salt to the proper warehouse as required
Inspect equipment daily and report any deficiencies
Perform minor maintenance (lubrication, adjustment to equipment, etc.)
Monitor condition of screens (check for tears, etc.)
Maintain accurate records of potash/salt production/distribution
Monitor flow of potash/salt into storage bins and take samples regularly
Monitor exhaust fan
Keep work area clean and orderly
Observe all OSHA and Intrepid safety rules and policies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate
Valid driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
OSHA 10-hour safety training
1 year experience in an industrial/mining setting
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to use a computer to input readings, results, and email reports
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to problem solve, learn processes quickly, and stay calm in a stressful environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a non-temperature controlled environment. The employee:
Is regularly required to lift heavy objects (50lbs <=) and work in confined spaces
May have to work at heights in a non-temperature-controlled environment and unpredictable weather conditions
Is regularly exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels
Is required to always wear safety attire and personal protective equipment (PPE)
Will frequently be standing, walking, sitting, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand and finger movements, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching and grasping
Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders, work at heights on occasion, and perceive color differences
SCHEDULE
A 40 hour a week work schedule with rotating shifts will be required with callouts and overtime as part of the job
