Position Overview
The Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities across multiple projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety
Promote and maintain a strong safety-first culture by leading through example and holding site personnel and subcontractors accountable.
Collaborate with the Project Manager and Safety Manager to ensure all health and safety programs, procedures, and regulations are effectively implemented and followed.
Work closely with Site Coordinators to maintain compliance with all on-site safety requirements.
Conduct regular site inspections and address any safety concerns promptly.
Site Management
Lead, supervise, coach, train, and mentor project team members and subcontractors.
Communicate effectively with site personnel and trade partners to ensure productivity, quality, performance, and safety expectations are achieved.
Collaborate with the project team to identify risks, resolve issues, and mitigate schedule conflicts or work interferences.
Maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Develop and implement recovery plans when required to maintain project timelines.
Assist in the development, maintenance, and execution of project schedules and work plans.
Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with budget, schedule, quality, and contractual requirements.
Review and understand project contracts and subcontract agreements.
Lead and facilitate site meetings with clients, consultants, project teams, and subcontractors.
Support company initiatives and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications & Education
Postsecondary diploma or degree in a related field such as:
Construction Management
Building Science
Architecture
Engineering
Other related disciplines
Additional management education is considered an asset.
Experience & Skills
Minimum 5 years of construction site supervision experience.
Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience.
Experience managing multifamily residential new construction projects is preferred.
Proven ability to successfully supervise and lead construction teams.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, specifications, procedures, and industry best practices.
Experience coordinating multiple scopes of work on complex construction projects.
Working knowledge of contract administration and contract language.
Thorough understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation and regulations.
Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Proficiency with construction management software and virtual construction tools.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
