Job Title: Shipper and Receiver
Job Description
This role combines hands-on shipping and receiving responsibilities with support for quality control, supply chain, and manufacturing teams. You will receive and inspect raw materials, verify documentation, and ensure accurate routing of work orders to projects. Approximately half of your time will focus on organizing and executing shipping activities, including operating a sit-down forklift, while the other half will involve general support tasks across multiple departments in a busy manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Receive incoming materials and verify them against packing slips to ensure accuracy.
Inspect materials using measurement tools and basic quality control techniques to confirm they meet specifications.
Sign off on packing slips and maintain accurate documentation for all incoming and outgoing materials.
Spend approximately 50% of the time performing shipping tasks, including organizing the shipping department and preparing materials for shipment.
Operate a sit-down forklift to move, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently.
Assist with loading long, heavy objects onto flatbed trucks, ensuring secure and safe placement.
Handle material movement, inventory support, and basic material handling tasks in the shop and outdoor yard.
Use tape measures and other measuring tools to confirm dimensions and support saw operation and cutting activities.
Assist with packaging, loading, and unloading of materials to keep operations running smoothly.
Perform basic cleaning and housekeeping tasks in shipping, receiving, and yard areas to maintain a safe and organized workspace.
Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment, handling materials, and working in both indoor and outdoor areas.
Essential Skills
Experience in shipping and receiving within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Experience working as a receiver, including checking packing slips and documentation.
Hands-on experience with material handling, including loading and unloading materials and packaging.
Proficiency using measurement tools such as tape measures to verify dimensions.
Basic quality control inspection skills, including checking materials against drawings and specifications.
Ability to support general labor tasks across shipping, supply chain, quality control, and manufacturing.
Strong attention to detail when handling documentation, labeling, and work orders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Forklift certification is an asset.
Experience working in an outdoor yard environment, operating diesel forklifts.
Previous experience loading flatbeds.
Comfort performing cleaning and basic housekeeping tasks in shop and yard areas.
Prior experience in shipping and receiving in a large, busy shop environment is preferred.

The standard shift runs Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with opportunities for overtime.
