Job Description and Responsibilities
We currently have an opening at our Red Deer facility for a dynamic leader with a proven track record as a Shift Supervisor. In this challenging role , you will be responsible for scheduling, proving direction, coordinating, training, and leading your crew to achieve or exceed planned safety, production, quality, and recovery targets while minimizing costs and labor relations issues.
Drive results by optimizing operations to increase productivity and improve Yield and First Pass Yield
Ensure compliance with all aspects of the safety, health, environmental, and quality programs
Plan, align, and direct daily production activities to ensure daily production requirements are met and/or exceeded and conformance with the monthly shipping plan is assured
Due diligence, make every reasonable effort to ensure the safety of the employees
Conduct monthly safety meetings
Work with operators and stakeholders to effectively solve problems
Provide or arrange training for employees to meet the standards of the job they are performing
Support all company and regulatory requirements
Effectively report mechanical/electrical concerns immediately and contribute to failure analysis
Engage employees in continuous improvement to identify and eliminate waste
Requirements
Diploma or Bachelor's degree in a related field, candidates with an engineering degree preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent experience
Minimum two years' industrial operations experience, experience in operating steel/pipe facilities preferred
Previous experience leading a team and overseeing work preferred
Demonstrated business operations and process improvement experience
Understanding and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
Familiarity with occupational health and safety (OH&S) regulations and safety standards
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven ability to motivate team
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
