We are currently looking for a Sheet Metal Worker to be an integral part of our Construction Division. This is a role that will be interesting and dynamic as no two days will be the same. Black and McDonald are part of the Sheet Metal Union, Local 8. We offer top wages in the industry. COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS: Change Orientation (open to change and the ability to identify where it is needed and how to make it happen) Communicates Effectively (verbally and in writing) Continuous Learning (ongoing effort to learn and contribute to the learnings of others) Customer Focus (understands the needs and perspectives of both internal and external customers) Holds Self and Others Accountable (takes personal responsibility to meet commitments) Problem Solving and Innovation (ability to approach problems logically and seek innovative solutions) Teamwork and Collaboration (work cooperatively and collaboratively with others) Values and Respects Others (encourages and supports diversity) EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS High school diploma or equivalent (required) Enrollment in the Sheet Metal Worker apprenticeship program at a 2nd or 3rd year level Additional industry-related training, technical courses, or certifications relevant to sheet metal fabrication and installation are considered an asset WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications considered an asset Experience installing HVAC ductwork, ventilation systems, roofing components, architectural sheet metal, and related products Experience using rigging and hoisting equipment considered an asset Demonstrated experience performing quality inspections and ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Demonstrates strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality workmanship Ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and building codes effectively Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve fabrication and installation issues Demonstrates sound judgment and a proactive approach to workplace safety Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team Exhibits strong organizational and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities Strong mechanical aptitude and technical ability Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, fabrication equipment, and measuring instruments Ability to accurately measure, mark, cut, shape, and assemble sheet metal components Strong mathematical and spatial reasoning skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics Strong organizational skills with the ability to work efficiently under deadlines Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all health and safety regulations Physically capable of lifting, carrying, climbing, kneeling, and working at heights in various weather and job-site conditions Valid driver's license and reliable transportation will be required Ability to obtain and maintain required site-specific security clearances and safety certifications Please note that our Edmonton office will be relocating to Acheson, AB before the end of the year.
