is currently seeking a full-time
Service Technician
in
Myerstown, PA
to aid our customers, offer technical support to them, and install and start up new equipment! This is a very hands-on position, generally involving physical labor. Saveway is the world leader in refractory monitoring applied to various types of molten metal processing, and we’re looking for an individual to aid our customers, offer technical support to them, and install and set up new equipment.

Pay:
Starting at
$24 per hour, offer depending on experience
Overtime available
Travel Requirement:
This position requires travel for approximately 50% of the year. Candidates must be willing to and capable of traveling overnight and out of state, with assignments that may last several days to a few weeks, depending on project needs. Nearly all jobs require hours of driving. Our customer locations range from PA and NJ to the Midwest region and some southern states.
The right candidate will have:
Proven work experience as a technician
Background in Maintenance preferred but not a necessity
Valid driver’s license with a good record
High school diploma or GED
The ability to pass pre-employment and random drug testing
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical and electrical issues
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal
Willingness to travel a moderate amount, often without much notice, including both day trips and overnights to our customers throughout the U.S.
The ability to lift 50 pounds
Capability of standing for long periods of time on uneven and hard surfaces
Computer skills working with Microsoft Office and TeamViewer
The capability of navigating multiple flights of stairs while carrying toolboxes, etc.
Our Service Technician will:
After training, have the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, including impending lining failures, moisture encroachment, improper installation practices, material selection and application
Travel to customer sites on short notice for fault-finding and troubleshooting
Diagnose and troubleshoot our own electronic safety equipment’s hardware and software problems as well as answer customer questions in the customer’s facilities, our office and/or over the phone
Install and maintain systems up to company standards, considering all health and safety aspects
Ask customers targeted questions to quickly understand the root of the problem
Talk customers through a series of actions, either via phone or email until they’ve solved a technical issue
Resolve melting furnace issues in foundries and steel mills, troubleshooting their Saveway safety system and using remote desktop connections to provide immediate support.
Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal teams (e.g. shift supervisors)
Provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers through our 24/7 on call support
Compile reports, emails, and general feedback to supervisors and customers
