Job Title: Service Technician
Job Description
The Service Technician maintains and services welding fume and vehicle exhaust extraction equipment, performing repairs, modifications, and preventive maintenance in accordance with established procedures. This role diagnoses technical issues, determines effective solutions, and documents all work performed. The technician operates hoisting and lifting devices and supports maintenance activities across various work locations, both at customer sites and in the warehouse.
Responsibilities
Maintain and service welding fume and vehicle exhaust extraction equipment, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
Perform repairs and modifications on equipment as required, following established procedures and standards.
Conduct all preventive and scheduled maintenance activities in line with documented procedures.
Diagnose errors, faults, and technical problems, and determine appropriate solutions in a timely manner.
Install, test, and troubleshoot equipment to verify proper operation after service or repair.
Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation to support installation and repair work.
Fill out detailed service reports and maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities performed.
Provide updates and maintain required documentation and checklists for all work area maintenance activities, including work orders and daily activity reports.
Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as forklifts and scissor lifts safely and in accordance with guidelines.
Work independently at various customer locations, managing time and tasks with minimal supervision.
Travel to customer sites as needed and represent the company professionally while on the road.
Support warehouse operations and equipment maintenance when not on the road or at customer sites.
Essential Skills
Proven ability to install, repair, service, test, and troubleshoot mechanical and technical equipment.
Mechanical aptitude with experience in maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical drawings.
Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical and technical problems.
Proficiency in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Experience working with HVAC systems, fans, or related mechanical equipment.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing tasks and priorities effectively.
Valid driver's license to travel to various customer locations.
Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent education.
Willingness and ability to work at various locations as required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Mechanical certification or license is preferred.
Comfort operating hoisting and lifting devices such as forklifts and scissor lifts.
Strong attention to detail in completing documentation, checklists, and service reports.
Reliable, self-motivated work style with a focus on safety and quality.
Ability to adapt to different work environments, including customer sites and warehouse settings.

Work Environment
The work environment combines time on the road visiting customer sites with time in a warehouse setting in Mississauga. The technician must be willing to drive up to four hours to reach sites and will take home a company van for work-related travel. Fuel, highway tolls (including 407), and eligible expenses are covered. The standard working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. When not traveling or working at customer locations, the technician works in the warehouse, using hand and power tools and operating equipment such as forklifts and scissor lifts in a mechanical and industrial environment.
