Senior Water Resources Engineer

Overview
On behalf of our client, a well-established engineering consultancy in Vancouver, we are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join their growing water team.
This is a senior-level opportunity to lead the delivery of complex water resources and hydrotechnical projects across municipal infrastructure, land development, and environmental sectors. The role offers a strong mix of technical leadership, project management, and client engagement, with exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects across the Lower Mainland and Western Canada.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the planning, analysis, and design of water resources and hydrotechnical projects (stormwater management, drainage, flood risk, river engineering, and watershed studies)
Manage projects from concept through detailed design and construction support
Undertake and review hydrologic and hydraulic modelling (e.g., PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM)
Develop stormwater management plans, floodplain mapping, and drainage strategies
Coordinate with municipalities, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary project teams
Prepare and review technical reports, drawings, and design documentation
Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and guidelines
Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and provide technical guidance
Support business development, proposals, and client relationship management
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline
P.Eng. designation in British Columbia (or eligibility to obtain)
8+ years of experience in water resources or hydrotechnical engineering within a consulting environment
Strong background in stormwater management, drainage design, and hydraulic/hydrologic modelling
Experience working on projects within BC and familiarity with local municipal standards and approval processes
Proficiency with industry-standard modelling software (e.g., PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, InfoWorks, GIS tools)
Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication skills with experience working directly with clients and stakeholders
Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver on time and within budget
