Your role:
The Senior Tax Manager manages a portfolio of tax services clients, leads tax planning and advisory engagements, and works closely with Partners and senior staff to deliver practical tax strategies and strong client outcomes. The role provides leadership to Managers and professional staff, drives business development, and leads initiatives that strengthen practice quality, consistency and operational efficiency across the firm.
Client service delivery
Work closely with Partners and other senior staff to develop and implement tax strategies, lead tax planning assignments.
Perform technical research with clear, well-documented recommendations.
Manage a portfolio of tax services clients, build strong relationships, and oversee engagement delivery to meet client expectations, quality standards and timelines.
Review tax returns and other tax work prepared by staff.
Manage engagement financials including budgets, WIP, variances and billing.
Team management and leadership
Lead, mentor, train and develop staff, while providing direction and support to Managers.
Build high-performing teams through coaching, feedback, performance management and knowledge sharing.
Practice and professional development.
Lead practice and professional development initiatives that strengthen technical capability, consistency, efficiency and collaboration across the firm.
Support continuous improvement by advancing firm processes, innovation and operational effectiveness.
Business and market development
Identify and cultivate new sales and client service opportunities, including cross-functional opportunities, and support broader business development efforts.
Represent the firm externally and help strengthen its market presence and client relationships.
What you bring to the table:
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation or equivalent
Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course or Master of Tax Program
Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in tax
High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams), Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and tax research software
At least two years in a tax manager role, HST experience is an asset
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining trusted advisor relationships
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to lead, mentor and develop others to build high performing teams
Understanding of a client-focused fast paced work environment and the ability to effectively pivot between tasks, prioritize and manage deliverables to meet conflicting deadlines
Business development skills are an asset
