Reftek Systems is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Sensor R&D Engineer to design, prototype and test analog electro-magnetic feedback seismic sensors. This role merges skills from numerous fields and requires a critical thinker with excellent problem solving skills. The successful candidate will work in our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office as part of a team focused on expanding our sensor offerings.

We specialize in designing and manufacturing digitizers and instrumentation that are known for ease-of-use, reliability and overall value. We serve clients in the earth science, structural health monitoring and hazard monitoring communities from our Dartmouth, Nova Scotia headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical/Mechanical design of transducers to meet performance targets.
Design closed-loop feedback and signal circuits and printed circuit assemblies that meets product specifications
Perform FEM modeling, analyze trade-offs and correlate models and theory with experimental data.
Plan and execute prototype builds; conduct characterization (frequency and magnitude response, self-noise, temperature effects) and document results.
Design calibration and test methods; contribute to verification/validation.
Collaborate with production on fixturing, tolerances, and DFM. Support transfer to production.
Evaluate materials and novel fabrication techniques; contribute to IP strategy and technology roadmaps.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary degree in Physics, Electrical, or Electro-Mechanical or Systems Engineering
5+ years’ experience in closed loop feedback systems for analog sensor design.
Hands-on experience with low-noise system design, including measurement and noise mitigation techniques.
Hands-on experience with prototype builds, signal generators, and transducer testing/characterization.
Knowledge of schematic and PCB design software
Preferred Skills:
Proficiency with FEM/Simulation tools and data analysis
