Senior Project Manager - Water/Wastewater Construction
Maple Reinders Constructors is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for our civil construction division in Mississauga, Ontario. The successful candidate will manage the Duffin Creek WPCP Biosolids Replacement project in Pickering and may be considered for other Ontario projects.
Key Job Duties
Develop and maintain relationships with clients, consultants, architects, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
Effectively manage projects following Maple Reinders’ processes and procedures, ensuring quality and consistency.
Mentor junior Project Managers and Coordinators, guiding their professional growth.
Support the National Business Development team and assist the Construction Manager with schedule development and final submissions.
Negotiate contracts with owners and their agents.
Develop construction budgets and conduct regular cost projection reviews.
Create and update cost‑effective project plans and schedules.
Submit initial project budgeting to the Construction Manager.
Select suppliers and sub‑trades, obtain quotations, and negotiate scopes of work.
Oversee submittals and approvals, review shop drawings, and manage project administration files.
Control documents, including distribution of drawings and specifications.
Implement and update QA/QC for individual projects.
Ensure timely receipt of progress payments.
Quote and negotiate change orders.
Lead project start‑up, progress, and close‑out meetings.
Manage project close‑out in accordance with contract and safety requirements.
Identify construction risks, opportunities, and assess site conditions, subcontractor and labor availability.
Coordinate payment requisitions and change management among Maple Reinders, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Administer construction contracts properly.
Emphasize site safety in accordance with regulatory requirements and the corporate Health & Safety Policy.
Project Managers handle water and wastewater projects typically valued at $50-100M, with responsibility for project success and oversight of estimators, superintendents, coordinators, and hourly staff. Strong business acumen and leadership enable managers to run projects as independent units with support from senior management.
Qualifications
10+ years of experience as a Project Manager in the construction industry with a general contractor.
Experience in water/wastewater, energy, or civil infrastructure projects.
University degree or technology diploma in civil engineering, or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
Professional designation preferred (P. Eng and/or Gold Seal).
