As a
Senior Project Controls Specialist
, you’ll be the go-to expert for building and driving high-impact program performance systems. Partnering with a wide network of internal and external stakeholders, you’ll lead the charge on Earned Value Management (EVM), program reporting, and performance insights that shape key decisions.
From developing procedures to maintaining systems and delivering sharp trend analysis, you’ll ensure projects stay on track with a strong, consistent cadence of project controls and reporting. You’ll also play a key role in elevating the team, mentoring emerging specialists and strengthening overall capability.

Responsibilities
Setting and maintaining a Performance Measurement Baseline (PMB) within the EVMS including configuration control of the PMB through application of Baseline Change Requests.
Weekly and periodic processing of EVMS data and updates, including reviews for data consistency.
Producing program performance reports, which could include trend analysis, for various stakeholders.
Provide coaching and on the job training to stakeholders, including Control Account Managers, to improve their understanding of program performance management techniques. This includes training and mentoring Junior Project Controls Specialists.
Identification of, and participation in, continuous improvement activities as it relates to continual refinement of the program performance management.
Develop and maintain specific plans, procedures, and work instructions such that corporate knowledge is retained.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, science, engineering, or equivalent experience.
PMP certification, leadership training, and/or lean six sigma training are all considered assets.
5-8 years of experience in a construction or manufacturing environment, or equivalent experience.
Extensive knowledge of EVM systems (EcoSys or Cobra) and Project Control techniques and systems.
Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning software such as JD Edwards or SAP, and scheduling software such as Primavera P6.
Advanced skills in MS Office tools, specifically MS Excel with programming in VBA considered a strong asset.
Proven leader with strong interpersonal and presentation skills, experienced in leading project controls teams and stakeholder meetings while effectively collaborating with diverse internal and external partners in dynamic environments.
Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
