The Role
Wood is recruiting a Senior Program Manager to lead a major client’s Refining, Upgrading, & Chemicals sustaining capital and brownfield delivery Alliance, based out of our Wood Edmonton office. This role is accountable for the integrated delivery, governance, and performance of a multi-project portfolio executed under a collaborative alliance model between the Client and Wood. The Program Manager will provide senior leadership across the Wood team and will steward all interfaces with the client to ensure safe, predictable, and value-driven delivery; while fostering a high-trust, best-for-program culture aligned with alliance principles.

Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities:
HSSE, Risk & Assurance
Champion a strong safety culture aligned with client HSSE expectations and Wood values
Ensure proactive identification and management of execution, commercial, and operational risks
Ensure quality and information management systems are embedded and consistently applied
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain strong, senior-level relationships with client leadership, alliance partners, and key stakeholders
Provide clear, concise program reporting, including performance trends, risks, KPI’s, and opportunities
Represent Wood and the alliance with external stakeholders, suppliers, and contractors as required, with a visible and regular presence at the Client’s operating facilities
Alliance & Program Leadership
Provide overall leadership and accountability for the delivery of the sustaining program within an alliance contracting model
Act as Wood’s senior representative within the Alliance Leadership Team, driving alignment to shared objectives and behaviours
Champion alliance principles, collaborative decision-making, and promoting a “best for program” mindset
Establish and maintain integrated governance, decision frameworks, and escalation pathways across alliance partners
Project Portfolio Delivery
Lead and mentor the Wood Project Managers who are assigned to manage projects within the Portfolio that are aligned with specific Process areas.
Oversee a portfolio of sustaining capital and brownfield projects from opportunity identification through execution and close-out
Ensure effective integration across engineering, procurement, construction, and operations
Drive predictable performance across scope, schedule, cost, quality, and risk at a program level
Take corrective actions if & when the team does not perform to Clients expectations.
People & Capability Development
Ensure effective resourcing, prioritisation, and workload balancing across the alliance
Work with Department functional leaders to ensure teams are competent, engaged, and aligned with alliance goals
Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and adoption of fit-for-purpose delivery practices
Lead and participate in assurance activities, peer assists, and performance reviews
Commercial & Financial Accountabilit
y
Accountable for program-level financial performance, including forecasting, cost control, high-value centre utilization, and value optimisation
Support alliance commercial models, including performance metrics, incentives, and continuous improvement targets
Lead change management governance, ensuring scope, cost, and schedule changes are transparently assessed and agreed

Expected:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
PMP, APM, P.Eng., or equivalent professional designation preferred
15+ years of experience delivering capital projects in oil & gas, energy, or industrial sectors
Experience leading sustaining capital or brownfield portfolios
Success in working within alliance, integrated, or collaborative delivery models
Strong background in commercial management, governance, and client-facing leadership
Experience managing multi-discipline teams across multiple offices and locations
Strong program and portfolio management expertise
Highly effective collaborator and influencer in multi-partner environments
Safety-focused with an uncompromising approach to risk management
Commercially astute with strong decision-making capability
Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills
