Job DescriptionJob Description
At Planitar, we build technology that helps people see and understand the world’s spaces more clearly.
We are the creators of iGUIDE, a powerful property technology solution that combines immersive 3D tours, accurate floor plans and reliable spatial data into a single, easy-to-use system. Our cameras and software platform are used by professionals in real estate, insurance, construction and property management to simplify their work and deliver better results.
Planitar recently joined REA Group, one of the world’s leading digital property companies. REA operates Australia’s largest residential and commercial property platforms, including realestate.com.au and has a growing global footprint across Asia and North America. Together, we are shaping the future of property technology, combining Planitar’s deep spatial data expertise with REA’s global scale and innovation engine.
OUR VISION
A connected future where reliable spatial data enables informed decisions across the property lifecycle.
OUR VALUES
Integrity:
We do the right thing even when it’s hard.
Teamwork:
We are one team, on a big mission.
Innovation:
We value creative solutions for emerging opportunities.
Accountability:
We honour our commitments.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As Senior Product Designer, you own design for the iGUIDE Portal (where customers manage projects, capture data, orders, and publishing) and the iGUIDE Viewer (the customer-facing 3D tour/floor plan experience embedded in it). You set the direction for both over the next few quarters and do the hands-on work yourself.
You'll design for two engineering teams with different audiences sharing one portal — Residential Real Estate (agents, photographers, listing integrations) and Insurance/Restoration/Construction (adjusters, estimators, builders, drafters). Your job is to serve both well without letting the product fragment into two separate tools. These users are hands-on, in-the-field, heavy daily users who'll give you direct feedback.
Design here is still young — just two designers, a partially-built design system, and evolving processes — so you'll have more influence over how design works, but also more foundational work to do. The team is expected to use AI tools to speed up discovery (mockups, research synthesis, testing) and move from idea to user feedback in days, not weeks. You'll collaborate with engineering, product, and go-to-market, reporting to the director who oversees both design and product management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You own portal and viewer design from research through to what ships and what changes
afterward. You will set the approach on work that can span both teams and sometimes takes more than a quarter to land, see the risks early, and keep things moving when priorities shift.
In this role, you will:
• Learn how your customers actually work, on site and in the office, and what they need
from iGUIDE
• Set the design direction for the portal and the viewer one to three quarters out
• Keep the portal coherent as two teams ship for two different audiences, and decide
when a workflow should be shared and when a vertical genuinely needs its own
• Own the design of the viewer, which is the part of our product that property buyers and
homeowners actually see
• Establish the design patterns for the portal and extend the design system as you go
• Plan and run your own research and usability testing, and use what you learn to
change designs, and roadmaps when the evidence is strong enough
• Work the hard tradeoffs through with engineers, and stay involved during the build so
what ships matches the intent
• Make the case for users with evidence, including when it means changing a direction
the team has already committed to
• Understand how your design decisions move adoption, conversion, retention and cost
to serve, and defend your recommendations in those terms, including when the best
experience is not the best business decision
• Long term opportunities to coach less experienced designers, review their work, and
help set the standard for the team
• Tell the rest of the company what design is doing and why, without waiting to be asked
• Watch how the work performs after launch and decide what to invest in further, fix, or
drop
QUALIFICATIONS
• 6+ years designing digital products, with a portfolio that shows craft and the thinking behind it
• You have owned a product area, not only a queue of features. Work that spanned several teams and took more than a quarter to land
• Strong Figma skills, including component systems and prototyping, and you build and extend design systems
• You run your own research, and can point to a design that changed because of what you learned
• Experience with complex or technical B2B software. Dense data, real workflows, expert users
• You have designed for more than one kind of customer in a single product, and have a view on when to converge and when to diverge
• Comfortable designing for professionals and for the public. The portal is a working tool; the viewer is seen by consumers
• You have mentored other designers, and changed a senior stakeholder's mind by making a good case
• You ship, and you have a view on when a design is good enough to go
• You want to help build a design practice rather than join one that already runs itself
