As a Senior Mining Engineer based in Calgary or Vancouver, you will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative, high‑impact mining solutions across Canada and globally. You’ll lead complex projects from early concept through feasibility and execution, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve challenging problems, optimize operations, and drive sustainable outcomes. This is an opportunity to influence major mining developments while mentoring future talent and helping expand WSP’s growing Mining & Metals practice. Your Impact Lead the planning, design, and evaluation of open pit mining operations, delivering optimized and sustainable project outcomes. Guide multidisciplinary teams through all phases of mining studies, from concept through feasibility and execution planning. Develop and review mine plans, production schedules, and technical deliverables using industry‑leading tools such as Deswik. Oversee the preparation of PEA, PFS, and FS studies, ensuring technical excellence, accuracy, and practical outcomes. Build trusted client relationships by providing strategic advisory support and innovative solutions to complex mining challenges. Contribute to business growth through proposal development, project scoping, and meaningful client engagement. Mentor engineers and technical professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, curiosity, and continuous learning. Champion a safety‑first mindset by integrating health, safety, and environmental priorities into all project work. The Skills That Set You Apart Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering and Professional Engineer designation in Canada, or eligibility to obtain one. 10–15+ years of progressive experience in open pit mine planning, design, and development. Proven experience delivering technical mining studies across the full project lifecycle, including PEA, PFS, and FS work. Advanced expertise in mine planning software, particularly Deswik; experience with Vulcan, MineScape, or ArcGIS is an asset. Strong understanding of mine economics, cost estimation, production scheduling, and equipment productivity analysis. Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex technical deliverables. Experience supporting client engagement, proposal development, project scoping, and business development activities. Compensation AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 - $179,100 MB & ON: $123,300 - $169,800 NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 - $162,200 The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
