Role
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to manufacture space products used on state‑of‑the‑art satellites. The role involves championing Design for Manufacturing principles, supporting new product introductions, coordinating across production, program management, design, test, and quality, and driving continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing within production departments.
Responsibilities
Determine strategy for assembly, integration, and testing of MDA products
Ensure communication between design authorities, technologists, planners, quality assurance, and management teams
Continuously review product designs for manufacturability
Suggest and implement new technologies (e.g., robots, vision systems, quality‑control tools) with engineering and production teams
Analyze and validate existing processes, and participate in the design, installation, and deployment of new solutions
Monitor costs and schedules using tools and ERP systems
Develop and implement optimal working methods, efficient testing tools, and train users
Participate in Technical Overview Boards (TOBs) to ensure production requirements are met in designs
Represent the production team during Management Review Boards (MRBs)
Maintain, improve, and troubleshoot existing production equipment
Discuss requirements with project managers and clients
Communicate with internal and external team members
Support production after start‑up
Analyze performance indicators of production cells
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent with 10 years of experience
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
Fluency in French and English (written and oral) for customer interactions outside Quebec
Demonstrated coaching, leadership, and mentorship capabilities
Interest in change management and new technologies
Ability to learn quickly and work under pressure
Capacity to handle several simultaneous priorities
Rapid decision‑making ability
Project management knowledge
Dynamic, proactive, detail‑oriented, and attentive to others
Special Requirements
Successful candidates must obtain and maintain security clearance at the reliability status level and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
