KPMG's Trade & Customs team works to be a client's first choice. With increasing globalization, companies have a growing need for analysis and advice on the subject of customs legislation.
Our practice provides clients with global solutions for cutting trade and customs costs and for reducing the effects of barriers to international trade. You will deal with in-depth compliance issues, customs valuation (including related party pricing), origin verification, duty relief applications, defend customs audits, and provide support to all other indirect and direct tax practitioners within Canada and around the world.
As part of our team, you will participate in providing trade and customs advisory services to clients of KPMG and be part of a Global Trade & Customs team consisting of over 800 professionals assisting clients in over 80 countries.
What you will do
Lead strategic engagments
Play an integral role in building the practise through business development effort and developing our people
Perform technical research on customs issues
Draft memos, opinion letters and other various reports
Conduct customs duties analysis and identify and assist in filing customs duties savings for clients, including reporting errors and drawback
Execute current state assessments and gap analysis for clients and assist in identifying best practices
Maintain knowledge of current and pending import/export regulations and policy
Assist clients in collecting information for customs requests and drafting responses to verifications and audits from the Canadian Border Services Agency

What you bring to the role
At least 7 years of experience with international import and export regulatory compliance combined with demonstrated expertise in customs issue resolution, preferably in a professional services environment
Ability to perform technical analysis of customs issues and have an in-depth knowledge of the Customs Act, Customs Tariff and other relevant legislation
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong people management skills
Ability to identify business opportunities and build relationships with both internal and external clients
Excellent practice development skills and the ability to identify and discuss key issues with clients
Ability to work effectively while under pressure to meet deadlines
Strong project management
Excellent skills using Microsoft Office
KPMG BC Region Pay Range Information
The expected base salary range for this position is $102,500 to $200,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
