Senior Manager, International Tax
The purpose of the Senior Manager, International Tax is to provide strategic international tax advisory for the Questrade group of companies and to manage compliance with international tax obligations globally. The Senior Manager assists the Director, Income Tax in overseeing QFG’s enterprise‑wide international tax compliance matters, performs technical research, documents technical matters, and assists on strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director and Managing Director with advisory mandates related to international tax matters, including global expansion, internal reorganizations, M&A, global mobility, and other special projects; conduct research, prepare documentation, and present technical positions to senior leadership.
Own and manage the Canadian international tax compliance processes, including T106, T1134s, Pillar 2 GloBE reporting, CbCR, and transfer pricing; oversee external advisors concerning global income tax compliance of foreign affiliates in non‑Canadian jurisdictions.
Individually manage correspondence and interactions with tax authorities on international tax matters, including audits and inquiries, and provide support to the Director on complex disputes.
Monitor and assess changes in international tax legislation, translate complex changes into actionable insights, and communicate them to the Director.
Support the MD and Director on engagements with the Ministry of Finance and other governmental agencies, both in Canada and globally, for tax technical consultation matters and legislative reform.
Act as a key liaison internally with functional groups (Finance, Legal, Technology, Product, Regulatory Compliance, etc.) and externally with advisors and service providers.
Provide guidance to other members of the tax team to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks and foster a collaborative, high‑performing team environment.
Qualifications
Canadian CPA
7+ years of relevant Canadian income tax experience in public accounting and/or industry
Completion of the In‑Depth Tax Program International Tax Course
Completion of the In‑Depth Tax Program (Lv. 1, 2, 3), Masters of Tax, or equivalent
Goal‑oriented with a sense of responsibility and ownership to deliver results
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational and time‑management skills
Strong character, desire to learn, and entrepreneurial mindset
Compensation Information
Base salary range: $145,000 – $165,000
Final compensation will be commensurate with experience, skills and geographic location (Canada) and includes a comprehensive benefits plan and a competitive incentive (bonus) program for full‑time permanent roles.
