What is the Opportunity?
The Senior Manager, AI Product for Functions Assist is a leadership role within the Generative AI and Mobile Applications Team, responsible for unlocking the potential of AI to solve functional business problems across RBC. You will support the strategic vision and execution roadmap for AI-powered solutions integrated within the Functions Assist platform, leading a portfolio of innovative products that transform how functional units operate.
This role sits at the intersection of business strategy and technical execution—partnering deeply with engineering, data science, development, QA, and UX/UI teams to identify high-impact AI opportunities, prioritize feature development, and translate complex business challenges into tangible, user-centric solutions. You will support multiple cross-functional teams delivering AI-powered experiences across web applications, ensuring technical feasibility aligns with business objectives and enterprise needs.
A critical focus is overseeing the health and growth of the holistic product application ecosystem. This includes leading the creation and launch of new digital solutions that expand reach to functional units, driving user value and engagement. Concurrently, you will manage Business As Usual (BAU) operations for existing applications—setting and tracking KPIs, ensuring sustained adoption, and maintaining product stability through proactive monitoring and swift issue resolution to guarantee high-quality service across all platforms.
What Will You Do?
Product Development
Lead strategy and day-to-day delivery
for AI features, translating business problems and requirements into user stories and tasks for the core Functions Assist web application
Define the "what" and "why"
for what the Functions Assist platform should build, articulating the business and user problems to solve across functional areas including: Finance Assist, Compliance Assist, T&O Assist, HR Assist, Audit Assist, GRM Assist, and more
Manage development across multiple pods
simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality AI products that meet performance and ethical standards
Guide and approve UX/UI design
for new AI interactions, guaranteeing consistency, usability, and responsiveness across all form factors (web and mobile browser)
Product Strategy
Support development of yearly strategy
for AI features and solutions within the Functions Assist web ecosystem, identifying key areas for competitive differentiation, cost-value opportunities, and partnership with functional units
Define and drive product KPIs
, holding the team accountable to achieve them
Conduct user research and competitive analysis
focused on product metric trends to inform strategic pivots and product positioning
Collaborate with customers and stakeholders
to derive insights that inform product strategy and planning
Build integrations with product metric trackers
such as Google Analytics (GA4) alongside current Tableau metrics, enabling deeper analysis of user journeys within the RBC application ecosystem
Product Growth
Drive growth and consumption
across all applications and products to achieve overall product KPIs
Increase adoption and retention
by understanding product consumption patterns and customer needs
Design and execute growth initiatives
, including A/B testing AI feature placement and onboarding flows to maximize user engagement and adoption
Product Evangelism
Serve as a primary subject matter expert
for Functions Assist's AI capabilities internally and externally
Create compelling narratives and collateral
(demos, presentations, documentation) that clearly communicate the value and functionality of complex AI products to sales teams, partners, and customers
Drive excitement and awareness
of our platforms across all enterprise teams at RBC
Host tech talks, webinars, lunch-and-learns, and product showcases
(Innovation Forums, Catalyst, townhalls) to drive platform visibility
Build and showcase product POCs and demos
in partnership with engineering
Stakeholder Management
Act as the connective tissue
across disciplines and organizations to ensure Functions Assist's product vision, strategy, roadmap, and progress is clear and transparent at all levels
Support product strategy and updates
to senior leadership within ASEDA and across the enterprise
Proactively manage and align expectations
across a diverse set of stakeholders—Engineering, Data Science, Executive Leadership, Sales, and Legal/Compliance—regarding AI product timelines and risks
Support documentation and delivery
of executive and strategic communications
Deliver executive-level presentations
on AI product performance, future roadmaps, investment proposals, and strategic decisions with clarity and transparency
Co-lead legal consultations
for AI governance and disclaimers for Functions Assist and other portfolio applications
Product Innovation
Maintain a forward-looking perspective
on emerging AI technologies (Generative AI, LLMs) and champion experimental initiatives that could transform how Functions Assist operates and delivers value across mobile and web platforms
Foster a culture of data-driven experimentation
and rapid prototyping within product teams
Ad Hoc Leadership
Embrace a flexible, proactive approach
to leadership and delivery, successfully completing miscellaneous projects and tasks as they arise—often requiring rapid prioritization and execution under tight deadlines
Take on side-of-desk leadership roles
as needed, including serving as interim cross-functional lead for critical initiatives, mentoring team members, and fulfilling administrative duties inherent to a senior leadership position
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
At least 8+ years of product management experience, with a focus on AI or machine learning products;
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
Strong product leadership skills and the ability to own a portfolio of products end-to-end independently. You have a track record of successful product deliveries;
Demonstrated technical depth with solutions leveraging generative AI, ML, LLMs, or cloud services architecture through shipped products or solutions;
Track record of success in planning and delivering enterprise technology solutions from pitch and envisioning to pilot and adoption;
Experience presenting and explaining product and technology topics in-depth to executive and technical audiences;
Strong communicator (written, verbal) and collaborator, and can influence both technical and business stakeholders;
Thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
Strong foundation within enterprise settings
Well versed with the core areas of machine learning and have experience with machine learning platforms and deploying models at scale;
Experience building developer platform products;
Experience working on UX and front end development.
Nice to have:
Strong leadership background and solid knowledge of RBC’s Business and Functional Unit’s processes and applications
Experience with content design, editing, and proofreading and using existing style guides (AP, Chicago) to create consistency in your content creation
Experience with RBC technical production release requirements and policies
Ability to leverage reporting tools to evaluate content effectiveness and performance and provide clear and informative reports to stakeholders
Comfort working with basic web publishing tools including: HTML, CSS and Javascript.
Comfort working with project management tools such as Confluence, Jira, RBC Connect
