Job DescriptionJob Description Job Title: Low Voltage Technician Job Description Low Voltage Technician will lead security system installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting across various sites, ranging from brand-new deployments to enhancements of existing systems. This role serves as the on-site lead, guiding junior technicians, managing client communication, and ensuring high-quality, compliant installations. Within 612 months, the successful candidate is expected to transition into a field leadership role overseeing all low-voltage teams. Responsibilities Lead security and surveillance system installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting for low-voltage systems, including security alarm, CCTV, automation, data, and fibre optic installations. Act as the on-site lead technician, providing direction, mentorship, and support to 23 junior technicians and coordinating daily tasks and priorities. Interpret and follow blueprints and technical drawings for security and surveillance installations to ensure accurate and efficient implementation. Install, pull, and terminate CAT-5 and CAT-6 cabling, ensuring neat, organized, and standards-compliant wiring throughout each project. Diagnose issues with low-voltage and security systems, perform troubleshooting, and implement corrective actions to restore full functionality. Communicate clearly with end customers on site to explain scope of work, project timelines, and any required changes or recommendations. Conduct site inspections related to low-voltage and security installations and provide input on estimating for upcoming projects. Travel to various project sites throughout Alberta, including rural locations, and work out of town as required while maintaining professional conduct. Maintain a clean driving record and operate company or personal vehicles safely when traveling to and from job sites. Support long-term goals to manage and lead all low-voltage teams in the field, contributing to process improvements and team development. Essential Skills Minimum 3 years of experience in low-voltage system installations, including security and surveillance systems, automation or data installations, CCTV, or fibre optic installations. Strong proficiency with CAT-5 and CAT-6 cable installation, termination, and wire pulling. Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints for security and surveillance projects. Willingness and ability to travel and work out of town within Alberta as project needs require. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with clients and team members. Minimum 3 years of clean driving abstract and comfort operating vehicles for travel to job sites. Experience with inspection and estimating related to low-voltage and security installations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with VERKADA security systems. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior technicians on site. The standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. When working out of town, daily LOA is provided for working days and a higher LOA rate is offered for weekends if you are asked to remain on site, with accommodations arranged in advance. Kitchenettes are available upon request to make extended stays more comfortable. You will work closely with 23 other technicians on site, collaborating as a team while taking the lead role. Travel may involve using a company vehicle for out-of-town work or using a personal vehicle with reimbursement. The environment is hands-on and technical, focused on installing and maintaining low-voltage security systems and cabling in a variety of facility types. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Calgary, AB. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
