Senior Litigation Associate – Personal Injury / Insurance / Civil Litigation
We are looking for a senior litigation associate to join our Calgary litigation platform at Wilson Laycraft.
The associate will work primarily with Shiv Ganesh on a growing personal injury, insurance, and civil litigation practice, with the opportunity to assist other lawyers at Wilson Laycraft on appropriate litigation matters.
This is a role for someone who wants meaningful responsibility, direct client contact, and a high degree of independence. The right candidate will be trusted to move files forward with good judgment, minimal supervision, and a practical understanding of what clients need.
Litigation experience is mandatory.
6+ years of litigation experience
Experience in personal injury, insurance litigation, or broader civil litigation
Ability to independently manage files, assess strategy, deal with opposing counsel, and move matters toward resolution
Strong drafting, research, questioning, mediation, and client‑management skills
Sound judgment, professionalism, and a practical litigation mindset
Interest in helping grow a litigation practice over time
Expected annual target of 1,500 hours
The role will primarily involve:
Personal injury litigation
Drafting, research, questioning, applications, mediation preparation, and resolution strategy
There may also be opportunities to assist with other litigation matters within the firm, including select employment, defamation, commercial, and general civil litigation files, depending on experience and firm needs.
Wilson Laycraft is an independent association of lawyers with a strong Calgary presence, a collegial and supportive environment, and a practical, client‑focused culture. The structure offers the benefit of working around experienced lawyers while preserving independence, flexibility, and room to build a meaningful litigation practice.
Compensation will include:
Salary starting at $150,000+, depending on experience and fit
Bonus structure for the right candidate
Professional support and resources
A strong platform for litigation practice growth
This is not a junior litigation role. We are looking for someone who can exercise independent judgment, take ownership of files, and become a key part of the next stage of growth.
