Our Corporate Human Resources team is currently looking to add a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to our growing team, based out of our head office in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the VP, Human Resources, we are seeking an experienced and strategically minded HR professional to serve as a trusted advisor and operational partner embedded within the business. This position translates business goals into people strategies, supports leaders in building high-performing and engaged teams, and provides HR solutions that directly enable project and business outcomes. The successful candidate is hands-on, highly adaptable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift and structure is often evolving. Duties and Responsibilities Strategic HR Partnership & Talent Management Collaborate with leaders to develop and execute HR strategies that support organizational goals, drive business performance, and ensure appropriate people resources are in place to achieve planned results Identify and develop key talent through robust succession planning, career development plans, and targeted programs that enhance engagement, satisfaction, and retention across the organization Employee & Labour Relations Coach management on employee relations matters including progressive discipline, policy interpretation, termination guidance, and employment legislation; lead formal and informal investigations and provide risk-aligned recommendations Serve as the primary union contact on project sites — attend union meetings, handle initial grievances, lead collective agreement breach investigations, and coach supervision on effective management in unionized environments Recruitment, Performance & Compensation Provide strategic recruitment guidance; partner with hiring managers on position profiles, and conduct new hire orientations Support managers in performance management including goal setting, reviews, and development plans; advise on compensation matters including wage adjustments, job descriptions, and pay-related communications Policy, Analytics & Resource Management Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment legislation; develop and review HR policies aligned with legal requirements and best practices Analyze HR metrics and prepare leadership reports; track crew composition, manage unionized worker requests, coordinate with Workforce Management on resourcing, and lead the temporary foreign worker program Requirements Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field with HR and/or Labour Relations coursework 8 years of experience as a Strategic HR Business Partner supporting operational teams Proven ability to operate as an HR enabler, driving operational outcomes beyond policy administration Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguous, fast-changing, or resource-constrained environments Expertise in employee relations, labour relations, and employment legislation across Canadian jurisdictions Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and influencing skills Preferred Skills / Qualifications Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation or actively working towards designation Experience supporting unionized workforces in a construction, utilities, or industrial environment Familiarity with HRIS platforms and HR analytics tools Benefits We offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including a 5% RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.
