Job Description:
The Specialized Reporting and Solution Management Team (SRSM) Insurance Team is part of the broader Specialized Reporting and Solutions Management Team, and reports under the Chief Accountant's Department of the Bank.
From a business perspective, SRSM Insurance Team supports the TD Insurance Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The team is responsible for specialized financial and regulatory reporting for the General Insurance and Life Insurance business. In addition, SRSM is responsible for providing effective accounting advice considering business, accounting and reporting implications, systems, processes, and control impacts, both at the subsidiary and the Bank level.
Job Summary
The Senior Manager partners with Technology, Actuarial, Project Management, and Finance teams to design and deliver processes supporting accurate financial and regulatory reporting for TD Insurance under IFRS 17 and evolving accounting standards.
This role serves as the Business Asset Owner (BAO) for the SAS IFRS 17 Solution, with accountability for system integrity, enhancements, and alignment to business and regulatory requirements:
Key Accountabilities
1. SAS Solution BAO & System Ownership
Act as Business Asset Owner (BAO) for the SAS IFRS 17 Solution.
Drive end-to-end ownership of system performance, including data integrity, controls, and alignment with reporting requirements.
Ensure the solution supports new product launches, business changes, and evolving reporting needs.
2. System Enhancements, Defects & Testing
Lead and prioritize SAS system enhancements, including:
Resolution of defects and data issues
Enablement of new product launches
Continuous improvements aligned to target operating model
Define business requirements and oversee testing strategy and execution.
Collaborate with Technology, vendors, and SMEs to deliver timely and effective solutions.
3. Analysis & Business Insight
Interpret IFRS 17 results and provide clear, actionable insights to stakeholders.
Perform ad hoc analysis to support financial close, business decisions, and senior management reporting.
4. Project Delivery & Transformation
Lead planning and execution of system and reporting initiatives, ensuring alignment with timelines and strategic objectives.
Contribute to the evolution of the target operating model, including automation and process simplification.
5. Controls, Governance & Audit
Ensure strong SOX control environment over the SAS application and related processes.
Lead internal and external audit interactions, including issue resolution and remediation.
6. Financial & Regulatory Reporting
Lead and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting activities, relating to the SAS pre-processing outputs.
Compile and deliver quarter-end and year-end schedules to the Bank to support consolidated financial reporting.
Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, complete, and compliant with IFRS 17 and TD Finance requirements.
7. Accounting Policy & Standard Implementation
Oversee the implementation and ongoing adoption of new and amended accounting standards (e.g., IFRS 9), ensuring impacts are appropriately reflected in systems, reporting, and disclosures.
Translate accounting requirements into business and system design specifications.
Provide guidance on interpretation of results and emerging accounting topics.
Job Requirements:
Deep knowledge of IFRS 17 and broader financial reporting frameworks (including IFRS 9 impacts)
Deep understanding of the insurance industry
Experience, with demonstrated success, in planning and implementing large and complex projects
Able to champion and lead automation/AI initiatives end-to-end, from ideation through implementation and adoption
Able to independently make key decisions, solve complex problems, and prioritize deliverables
Ability to communicate complex issues in an understandable and concise manner
Demonstrated skills in influencing others
Strong leadership to lead a diverse group of subject matter experts to common goals
Ability to deal with ambiguity as well as communicate complex ideas succinctly and clearly
