Job DescriptionJob Description Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Burnaby, BC Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 + benefits Our client, a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy, is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their established team in Burnaby. This is a key hire for a growing geotechnical practice delivering complex and high-profile infrastructure projects across British Columbia and throughout Canada. The team provides end-to-end geotechnical services, supporting projects from initial site investigations and laboratory testing through to advanced analysis, design, and construction-phase services. Their project portfolio spans transportation, commercial/industrial developments, water and wastewater, transmission, and oil & gas sectors. This position offers the opportunity to take on a senior technical and leadership role within a collaborative environment, while contributing to impactful infrastructure and community-focused projects. The Opportunity As a senior member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in both technical delivery and project leadership , while also contributing to client development and team mentorship. Key responsibilities include: Leading the design, analysis, and delivery of geotechnical components for major infrastructure projects Managing multidisciplinary project teams and coordinating internal and external stakeholders Preparing proposals, including scopes of work and budgets Overseeing and performing advanced geotechnical analyses using industry-standard software Providing technical guidance on ground improvement, foundation design (shallow and deep), slope stability, settlement, and seismic considerations Reviewing and authoring high-quality technical reports and recommendations Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices Building and maintaining strong client relationships and supporting business development initiatives Contributing to innovation initiatives, including digital tools, advanced analysis methods, and climate resilience strategies Why This Role? Competitive salary in the range of $120K - $150K , depending on experience Work on complex, large-scale infrastructure projects across Canada Take on a visible leadership role within a well-established geotechnical team Join a collaborative and people-focused environment with strong technical depth Opportunity to influence project strategy, client relationships, and team development Exposure to cutting-edge tools, evolving technologies, and innovative engineering approaches Clear opportunities for career progression into senior leadership or technical specialist pathways Flexible work arrangements supporting work-life balance Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering (Master's or PhD considered an asset) 15+ years of geotechnical consulting experience , ideally within British Columbia Registered as a P.Eng. in BC (EGBC) or eligible for registration Strong knowledge of BC and Canadian design standards and codes (e.g., BCBC, NBCC, CSA) Proven experience delivering infrastructure-related geotechnical projects Proficiency with geotechnical software such as GeoStudio, Rocscience, LPile, Leapfrog, or similar Experience with seismic assessments, including liquefaction and site response analysis Demonstrated project management and team leadership experience Strong client-facing skills with a track record in business development and relationship management Excellent communication, reporting, and organizational abilities Experience working in consulting environments and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams Familiarity with alternative delivery models (e.g., Design-Build) is considered an asset
