Senior Financial Accountant (Contract)
Are you a CPA-designated accounting professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment? We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established organization seeking a
Senior Financial Accountant
to join their finance team on a
12-18 month contract
. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on delivering accurate financial reporting, improving processes, and partnering with teams across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of monthly financial reporting while supporting the broader finance team with year-end activities, compliance, and ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the monthly close process, including preparing working papers, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and posting journal entries
Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for senior leadership and external stakeholders
Prepare and file regulatory returns, including GST/HST, WCB, royalties, and other required filings
Maintain customer and vendor records and related financial information
Support the year-end audit process and coordinate with external auditors
Contribute to finance initiatives and continuous improvement projects
Provide support across the finance department as needed
What We're Looking For
CPA designation (required)
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong knowledge of Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
Experience with full-cycle accounting, including purchasing and billing
Excellent analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Effective communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint
Experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting software is considered an asset
Experience in the mining or manufacturing industry is considered an asset
