The Team
As Senior Director of Operations, you will lead a high-caliber team of operational excellence, specifically within the retail sector.
The Opportunity
At Alpine, we don't just provide commercial janitorial services; we are the operational backbone for our clients’ most critical facilities, including retail, commercial, government, aviation, and institutional facilities. Our commitment to service excellence, compliance, and operational integrity has earned us long-standing contracts and trusted partnerships.
We pride ourselves on operational integrity, and we are looking for a Senior Director of Operations who shares that commitment.
If you are a strategic thinker who isn’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into the tactical details, you’ll fit right in. You will be the bridge between our clients, our union partners, and our internal teams, ensuring that every contract not only meets expectations but sets a new standard for service excellence.
The Role
Drive Strategy & Performance: Provide vision and oversight across a portfolio of complex government and public sector accounts, ensuring KPIs and service-level agreements are consistently exceeded.
Lead & Mentor: Inspire a diverse team of Operations Directors, managers, supervisors, and support staff to achieve their performance and development goals.
Master Relationships: Act as the primary liaison for both clients and union representatives. You will use your emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive negotiations and build long-term, trust-based partnerships.
Master the Numbers: Take full ownership of operational budgets, including meticulous labor forecasting, resource allocation, and cost-containment strategies.
Ensure Compliance: Oversee contract execution to ensure strict adherence to collective agreements, legislation, and corporate policy.
Operational Excellence: Conduct regular, proactive site visits and audits to maintain quality, identify inefficiencies, and drive continuous improvement across all accounts.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Finance, Sales, and Compliance teams to align on major projects and operational hurdles.
The Qualifications
Experience: 5–10 years of progressive leadership experience in facility services or operations. A track record in unionized environments and floor care experiences is a must.
Expertise: A strong grasp of contract management, performance metrics, and financial budgeting/forecasting. Experience in government and healthcare sector is strongly preferred.
Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and public speaking abilities. You are data-driven, comfortable with Excel, and quick to solve problems under pressure.
Mindset: You are self-motivated, energetic, and highly committed. You understand that "operational" means being willing to step in when and where it matters most, even if that means flexing your schedule to meet business needs.
Education: A bachelor’s degree in a related field is an asset.
Mobility: A valid driver’s license and the willingness to travel across various sites.
The Compensation
Salary Range: $140,000 to $160,000 per annum
Comprehensive benefits package.
