Job DescriptionJob Description The opportunity: Associated Engineering, a proudly Canadian, Employee-owned Company is seeking an experienced and dedicated Senior Climate Resilience Advisor to join our team in our Vancouver office. In this role you will be responsible for leading the delivery and growth of our climate resilience practice in British Columbia, working with local governments, First Nations, ports, utilities, and other public- and private-sector infrastructure owners. This is a senior delivery and practice-building role for an experienced climate resilience professional who can lead complex projects, advise clients, mentor an established team, and develop new opportunities. You will work closely with colleagues across our engineering, environmental, planning, and asset management practices to integrate climate risk and adaptation into infrastructure planning, design, operations, and investment decisions. What we offer: Flexible/hybrid working arrangements, depending on position Market competitive salaries, with annual reviews Salary range of: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 Matching company pension program, increasing over time Comprehensive benefits including: Health/dental/vision coverage Fitness allowance Employee and family assistance programs Mental health supports Paid time off so that you can recharge including: Generous paid vacation Paid office closure over December holiday break Industry leading paid sick time Parental leave top up program Ongoing support for your professional development and growth Active Young Professional group Formal mentoring programs Paid professional development hours Capacity building seminars Engineer In Training programs Opportunities to participate in social club activities and events Company-wide social events Regular lunch-and-learns Community volunteer opportunities What you’ll do: • Leading climate change risk and vulnerability assessments for communities, infrastructure systems, facilities, natural assets, and geographically dispersed asset portfolios. • Interpreting climate information and guiding multidisciplinary teams in assessing exposure, sensitivity, consequences, risk, and adaptation options. • Developing practical climate adaptation strategies, implementation roadmaps, decision-making frameworks, and recommendations that clients can incorporate into policies, programs, capital plans, asset management systems, and engineering projects. • Managing multidisciplinary projects, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, client expectations, and team coordination. • Designing and facilitating workshops with technical staff, operations personnel, community representatives, managers, and senior decision-makers. • Translating complex climate, infrastructure, and risk information into clear, decision-ready advice. • Providing technical direction, quality review, coaching, and mentorship to intermediate and junior climate resilience practitioners. • Building trusted client relationships, identifying emerging needs, and leading or contributing to proposals, client presentations, and business development activities. • Strengthening collaboration between Strategic Advisory Services and Associated Engineering’s engineering and environmental practices in British Columbia. • Helping grow our climate resilience practice in British Columbia, with opportunities to take on broader technical, business, or people leadership responsibilities within the Vancouver Strategic Advisory Services team as the group expands. Does this sound like you? • An undergraduate degree in engineering, environmental science, planning, geography, climate science, or another relevant discipline. A professional engineering designation, or substantial experience working closely with engineers and infrastructure professionals, is preferred. • Approximately 10 or more years of relevant professional experience, including significant experience in climate adaptation, climate resilience, or infrastructure risk advisory services. • Demonstrated experience leading climate change risk and vulnerability assessments using recognized approaches such as PIEVC, ISO 14091, or comparable risk-assessment frameworks. • Experience applying climate projections and hazard information to assess risks to infrastructure, services, communities, or natural systems. • Experience leading complex assessments involving multiple asset types, large datasets, spatial information, or geographically dispersed infrastructure portfolios. • Strong project management experience, including responsibility for project scope, budget, schedule, quality, teams, and client relationships. • Excellent engagement and facilitation skills, with experience leading technical workshops and discussions involving diverse participants and perspectives. • The ability to communicate complex technical information clearly to operational staff, senior leaders, elected officials, and other non-technical audiences. • Experience developing practical adaptation actions and integrating climate resilience into infrastructure planning, engineering, asset management, operations, capital planning, or organizational decision-making. • Experience mentoring and providing technical direction to developing professionals. • Demonstrated ability to build client relationships and contribute to proposals, business development, and the growth of consulting services. • Established professional relationships in British Columbia and knowledge of the Lower Mainland climate resilience and infrastructure market. • A collaborative, systems-oriented approach, and the ability to work effectively with engineers, environmental professionals, planners, asset managers, GIS and data specialists, operations staff, and organizational leaders. The following would be considered assets: • Registration or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia. • Experience working directly with local governments, First Nations, ports, utilities, transportation agencies, or other infrastructure owners. • Experience incorporating climate risk into asset management systems, engineering design, infrastructure standards, or capital prioritization. • Experience with GIS, data analysis, dashboards, or visualization tools, including the ability to guide technical specialists and interpret analytical outputs. • Experience with adaptation economics, natural infrastructure, emergency management, or disaster risk reduction. • Professional credentials in infrastructure resilience, project management, asset management, facilitation, engagement, or a related field. • Experience leading people or an interest in taking on formal team leadership responsibilities as the practice grows.
