Senior Civil Engineer - Land Development
Edmonton, AB
Our client is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm that has been serving public and private sector clients across Western Canada for over 40 years. With offices throughout BC and Alberta, their team of engineers, technicians, land surveyors and planners works on civil, transportation, geotechnical and geomatics projects that shape the communities we live in.
They're looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Edmonton office, with a strong focus on land development and a track record of building client relationships in the local market.
The Role
This is a senior-level position for someone who knows the Edmonton land development and permitting landscape inside and out, and who's comfortable taking on a business development role alongside technical delivery. You'll lead civil engineering design on land development projects, manage client relationships, and help grow Watt's presence in the Edmonton market.
What You'll Do
Lead civil engineering design and delivery on residential, commercial, and mixed-use land development projects
Navigate municipal approval and permitting processes with the City of Edmonton and surrounding municipalities
Manage client relationships and act as a key point of contact on active projects
Identify and pursue new business opportunities, building on existing relationships with developers, municipalities, and other stakeholders in the Edmonton market
Mentor junior and intermediate engineers within the team
Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and reports
Collaborate with Watt's transportation, geotechnical, and geomatics teams on multi-disciplinary projects
What You Bring
10-15 years of civil engineering experience, with a focus on land development
Strong working knowledge of land development and permitting processes in Edmonton
Demonstrated business development experience and an existing network within the local industry
P.Eng. designation with APEGA (or eligibility for registration)
Proven ability to manage projects and client relationships independently
Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to working across disciplines
